Scanner issues/Recommendations

So I was recently scanning a few cards and noticed that I was getting a couple vertical lines as seen in the scan below. I've tried turning off and on, cleaning the glass, checking with a flat document directly on the glass, etc, but nothing helps. Anyone have any idea what the issue could be and how to correct or is the scanner done? Scanner is an Epson perfection v37 and it is a few years old.

I'd guess it's the element and that's not a good sign.

Can you move the card to another area of the glass that isn't affected?

A white line/streak that runs in the same direction as the movement of the element is likely caused by a flake of debris sitting atop of the element itself. Some scanners have removable beds. If you locate the fleck of schmutz, perhaps you can get to it. Depending on the flake's makeup, even gently shaking the scanner could dislodge it and have it fall beneath the element, eliminating the issue. :)

Excellent use of schmutz!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Took the scanner apart this morning and did not see anything on the element or calibration strip. I also tried just cleaning the inside of the glass. Unfortunately, still getting the same issue. I could still use it for regular cards if I move them to another area of the glass, but anything much bigger than standard isn't going to work. So I guess it is new scanner time. Any current recommendations? Things you liked/disliked about different models?

Thanks
DJ
