After 1 yr.....basically a first group and a second group, alphabetically. Close to half way done. They can be viewed much larger on my site. Happy collecting....

Man, great eye appeal on those. Are they all raw? Or does it just look that way from the scans?

VERY NICE!! I really like the T205 cards. Definitely great eye appeal.

Quick question - are you ever concerned with buying an altered card or for this set, it does not matter to you? Just curious. Thanks!

EYECOLLECTVINTAGE 01-24-2018 01:23 PM

You have a good eye Leon.

Congrats on half the battle.

Looks great! Good luck on the back side of your journey..

Is the goal one card for each pose or a master set with all the back variations?

Does anybody else remember a large group of VG-ish T205s listed in the wrong category on eBay back in 2005. It included some major Hall of Famers and also a Hoblitzell (no stats), though you wouldn't have known that unless you had asked the seller for pictures of the backs of the cards. It ended at like 3 or 4 in the morning, and I think the whole group of maybe 100 cards went for about $2000.

I don't remember who the buyer was, but I seem to recall he was on here and didn't know about the Hoblitzell until he opened the package.

Thanks for the compliments. I will try to answer a few questions. Probably about 10%-20% are raw. I don't want any altered cards in the set. I am not concentrating on what brand of backs they are. Many are Polar Bear.

My goal is probably only a set of fronts. Here are the latest 2, from yesterday, and included above. I am always looking to upgrade too which has been a fiasco so far :)......Half of my upgrades weren't upgrades in hand.

CobbSpikedMe 01-24-2018 04:55 PM

Very nice Leon. Lots of really nice gold borders on those without much chipping. I like how they look all together like that too.

Proud to have supplied a few of those, love the uniformity of the fronts, really catches the eye.

Very nice

Well done Leon. Excellent eye appeal. That's what I call a high end collector set. My kind of cards.

Thanks Dean et al.....As anyone who has collected 05 knows, centering and chipping are real problems. Not a great scan but this one will fill one more hole. I am almost giving up on minor upgrades because at least half the time they turn out not being upgrades :(

That's a beautiful set in progress. Thanks for showing it

Awesome stuff Leon! Such a technically demanding set. I know what you mean by upgrades. These more than any other cards I have seen almost need to be purchased in person as there are so many defects that are hard to see even on scans.

If the the pictures are scans the chipping can be seen fairly well. If the pictures are taken from ipads or phones they usually suck at showing the chips. Just to reiterate I am quite anti-phone, anti FB and anti Twitter.....can't really stand any of them....
A recent pick up from DavidBvintage.

Hi Leon, just a beautiful display of vintage collecting. I'm not a vintage collector but do appreciate these historical beauties non the less. Thanks for sharing and good luck in your hunt for additional 05's Jim

Great Stuff, Boss.

I find myself considering the T205 to be my next Cobb purchase. Walter, Matty & Eddie Grant need company.

You also deserve 'props' for even have enough clear space to display them...I'm impressed.

Beautiful collection. I have always loved the sharp color of the T205 set.

MVSNYC 03-02-2018 06:30 AM

Leon- gorgeous. I’ve always wanted to work on a T205 set, but I’m always too busy playing with T206, and bats. Someday...

What are the average grades of your slabbed examples?

Great work so far.

Thanks Michael et al. I appreciate the kind words.
It's been fun as it's not super easy finding the right cards. I just did a quick cut and paste and here are their grades..

Thanks. Condition (technical) has not been what I am going after, obviously. It is all about how they look to me. It could be raw, a 1 or a 6, doesn't really matter.

iowadoc77 03-04-2018 03:58 PM

Amazing T205s Leon. Hard to find that many great examples.
