I am curious has anyone done this before? How does it work? I assume they provide you a certain percentage of perceived value and then at the next auction you get the balance.

Leon 04-18-2022 09:10 AM

Friendly bump. I think about 1 out of approximately 20+ bids is still holding. I don't expect it to stay that way though :(

I keep getting outbid messages!! LOL.....only a few left and then I won't get them anymore. (until closing night :()

Agreed. I am down to four and still plenty of time left for those to be outbid.

Great selection of cards and lots of really Strong prices on them Great for the Sellers. Like that Rookie Jackson an SGC1.5 and at $40K (48K with Buyers Premium) and the 1915 CJ Joe Jackson SGC3 at 29K (almost $35K with Buyers Premium)

and lots of great Ruth Cards and all going strong

The SGC 1 E90-1 Jackson is a relative steal at $14k compared to the $40k SGC 1.5...although that 1.5 is a beauty with only that one corner crease and the back stamp.

Lot of strong prices for sure. I'm hoping to walk away with 1-3 lots. But wouldn't be surprised with 0. ;)

Casey2296 04-24-2022 02:44 PM

Good luck to all in the mix tonight, I'll light a candle next Sunday for the pocketbooks of any members going after the high grade E93's.

I can't bid on REA right now. :(

nolemmings 04-24-2022 10:05 PM

Yes, it won't let me on to bid. Annoying as hell. Get your shit together REA

Joe_G. 04-24-2022 10:06 PM

At midnight Eastern sharp it stopped taking my bids, cannot currently get back into auction. Seems the 10-minute rule is overwhelming the server(s).

Mark17 04-24-2022 10:06 PM

This is so annoying. Watch, they'll extend bidding for another day because of this. My prediction.

molenick 04-24-2022 10:06 PM

Same for me....and with every lot closing individually either the auction is going to end at 12:10 or they are going to have to extend it.

I have to go to bed, gang. It was fun, with the build-up and all. See you guys next time.

I hope REA considers moving their auctions to Saturday night. Staying up this late to start the workweek is tough enough as it is before technical problems.

Oh, don't worry. They'll push the closing to tomorrow and squeeze more bids out of everyone.

These outages benefit the AH and consigners.

No idea said they were working on it and to check email

I'm watching a movie so I will be up for a bit since tomorrow is a State holiday...Confederate Memorial Day (Yes Alabama still recognizes this as a holiday...go figure)

I will check email once movie is over

Just got this in an email:

There have been reports of intermittent access issues to the site. We are aware of these issues and are working to resolve them rapidly. The auction will be extended for the amount of down time. Lots will temporarily display as closed. They will be reopened once resolved.

Please stay tuned to your email for updates.

Casey2296 04-24-2022 10:19 PM

Can someone post the new bidding instructions here when they come out? I don’t have access to email right now, thank you.

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:19 PM

I just got back into the auction. Anyone else?

edjs 04-24-2022 10:20 PM

Hmm. Back in, but the 10 minute clock closed.

babraham 04-24-2022 10:21 PM

Now I got back on but all the lots (at least the ones I was bidding on) show as closed now. I got sniped on one too right before the outage.

Ok just got that too.

Kaneen 04-24-2022 10:21 PM

There's got to be a better way to close these auctions...basically, the auction doesn't really even start until midnight...and then everyone who's serious about winning is gonna wait until about 3 minutes left in the "10 minute window" to all place bids at the same time. Who couldn't have seen the site crash at 12:07 coming?

molenick 04-24-2022 10:22 PM

I am back on but all lots are displaying as Sold so I don't think bidding has resumed yet.

Kidnapped18 04-24-2022 10:22 PM

They sent a message saying that bidding would reopen shortly. (Bit that all lots would appear “closed” temporarily.

Their auctions have always worked this way and I don't remember them having any problems like this before tonight.

darwinbulldog 04-24-2022 10:23 PM

All the closed notices for the individual lots indicate the auction ended at 12:29 A.M. Perhaps that's when it will re-open for bidding with the 10-minute clock.

RCMcKenzie 04-24-2022 10:23 PM

looks like it all ended while I was joking around on here. Good luck, y'all.

REA should just follow the Heritage approach. Divide the auction into 2 or 3 days, which will reduce the number of bidders each day. Start the extended bidding at 11pm EST and use the 30 minute clock instead of 10 minutes. With the 10 minute clock, everyone is rushing to get their bids in, right at midnight EST because they are afraid their time will run out, and then they are constantly refreshing their bids. The 30 minute rule puts less pressure on this.

Which is what the email said would be the case.

Good thing they went 17 days and provided 50 or so status emails when they had to know, as has been the case for years, that bidding takes off at the end no matter when you set it. Way to be prepared for the stretch run.

Rock 'n' Roll!

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:35 PM

Closing times keeps changing for all lots I have bid on even though there haven't been any recent bids. Now they all show 12:42:02. Before they were 12:33 then 12:36:30.

Peter_Spaeth 04-24-2022 10:35 PM

The timers don't seem to be working right. Or maybe they reset with a bid.

perezfan 04-24-2022 10:37 PM

They keep pushing the closing times out (even if no additional bids are being placed). WTH?

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:40 PM

Now everything is closing at 12:47:56.

YazFenway08 04-24-2022 10:41 PM

I’m throwing the BS flag on that. I was the high bidder on two when the first “revised” clock would have shit down. Now everything resets?

perezfan 04-24-2022 10:44 PM

They just pushed the times out again... despite no additional bids being made. Wasn't the auction supposed to close "lot by let" at this stage???

paul 04-24-2022 10:44 PM

Imagine if you went to bed at 12:30 confident you had won a lot you really wanted because the auction website said it was closed and you were the winner. But then you're not. That's gotta suck.

nolemmings 04-24-2022 10:45 PM

I take it from their email that when they said the down time would be added they meant the total time that no one could get on would be added, and because that was more than ten minutes, they are doing it in some sort of blocks.

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:46 PM

Unfortunately, they didn't send out another email when the site was back up explaining exactly what would happen.

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:47 PM

Closing times pushed out again to 12:55:00.

nolemmings 04-24-2022 10:47 PM
