Congrats to the Red Sox and all of there fans. That was a fun Series to watch.

The Cards will be back there soon. They've got a lot of very good young players, especially pitchers. As these things go, they were maybe a handful of plays away form winning or making it a lot tougher.

I hear ya. I am sure it got old. He who gloats can eat crow. Although I am not sure how much crow there is to eat when your team makes the WS. I am a fan, a longtime Cardinal fan but I don't consider myself a gloater. We're all different, I never seemed to uber-enjoy another team's misery, even it is the so called mortal enemy; BoSox/Yankees, Cubs/Cardinals. But I did learn in an earlier thread that most Cardinal fans are, I believe the word was, insufferable. Jeff |

Also Sean, how is it going to be a decade till we contend for anything? This past season we had so many injuries to our starters, to our backups and also our backups backups. Yet we still finished with a above .500 team and were still in the playoff race till the final two weeks. |

Heck, even most, not all :-) Yankee fans I've meet are pretty nice. |
Congrats to the Redsox, same old Braves though....:(

Yep, and some humble pie was served, crow alamode. For a change, I didn't have to hear about " The World Champion St. louis Cardinals". It was left in the Cubs matra, wait til next year. i have to remind him that the Cardinals were World Series Champions a few years ago. :-) Kmac |

Very cool Steve! Thanks for posting.
I don't know about you, but to me this Championship was just as enjoyable & perhaps more unexpected than '04! What do you think? |
Unexpected, by a mile. And especially helped heal Aprils' wounds... But nothing beats '04. Boston had a reason to smile again. And our great grand parents could finally RIP.

Series
Have lived in Texas for last 20 years but was born bad raised in St Louis and went to Series games in 64, 67, 68, 82, 85, 87, 04 ( game 4 ), 06 and 11 ( game 6). This year I am on a cruise from Montreal to Miami and did not see a single game. But ironically we stopped in Boston the morning following the clincher. It was fun to see the city in such a festive mood, including, the statue of Washington in a Sox Jersey. I dutifully wore my Cardinals cap and took some good natured ribbing, but for the most part, folks were very gracious to us "losers". We also had a great visit to that beautiful and historic city

I made the parade and snapped this pic smack dab at the intersection of Park St. and Tremont next to the common with the State house directly behind me at approximately 11:20 am Saturday morning.
This picture sums up the season for me. Two newcomers fitting seamlessly into the TEAM. Great year and quite unexpected. Sometimes those are the best kind. Word! |

Ball point pen is much better than Sharpie for that ball, kid! :D
Very nice ad - St. Louis fans were super classy in '04, and I'm hoping we can continue the friendly rivalry in the Series in future years as well! |
One helluva' nice gesture by the classy Red Sox organization!
