None of the above. I collect for the chicks. Nothing turns women on more than when you tell em you collect old baseball cards! :D

This comment wins it ! Nothing else can top this one.

Mostly a churner, but I can see attributes of both a bottom feeder and an elitist collector...maybe I'm just a vague collector with churner tendencies.

Another good thread idea - thanks Frank

Crackers to me are sacrilegious I don't get it unless it's a Beckett or non PSA/SGC.

Nashvol 10-19-2015 06:39 PM

A drifter. And a rambler and a gambler and I guess I always will...

abothebear 10-19-2015 06:44 PM

Bottom Feeding Hobby Investor that unfortunately resembles an Ex-Collector these days.

You forgot one...

The Protagonist.

-One who enjoys collecting and the associated fanfare, but tires of silly and mundane topics started by OP's with apparently too much time on their hands. :)

Things like this photo are the reason I have more faith in Bigfoot than Pop reports.

Over 50 years ago I was a vintage & prewar card collector. For the last 35 years, I am a hard core dealer of early prewar cards.

esd10 10-25-2015 06:32 PM

I really prefer pre 1920's cardboard and so that is what I collect

HOF Autograph Collector primarily

3000 hit, 3000 k, 300 win, 500 hr club autos also..(most are HOF)

My focus is GPC's, but also items that are dated.

Mid-course Correction

The types of collectors are defined in Post #1, with a few additions sprinkled in along the way.

The types of cards you collect is not the focus of this thread.

Look in the mirror to answer the question and not at your collection.

Frank-- there were too many choices in post one. I could not decide.

Samsdaddy 11-04-2015 12:50 PM

Late to the dance here but I am a Drifter.

Back into collecting after taking a year off.

And if I really want to turn a woman on I whip out my phone, show her my PSA Certification app and let her verify a few bar codes...:D

Topps206 12-02-2015 02:30 PM

I'm a hybrid of hoarder/drifter.

sreader3 12-02-2015 08:03 PM

Sorry Frank. Love ya' man--really do. But I can't be pigeon-holed into your stinkin' categories. The Researcher. Please add as a category of I'm gonna have to post some damn research.:)

And Longstreet is the best southern leaguer by far.:)

Hoarder

I'd have to say that I'm a hoarder but am dealing with a bit of a drifter phase for the last few years. After decades of hoarding/collecting post war cards I realized I had no interest in keeping them. They took up a lot of space, and caused too much of an organizational effort than they were worth to me. So, I continue to hoard the areas I'm currently focused on. But am in the process of downsizing the things I don't have a passion for anymore. I no longer strive to have 1 million different cards. Now i'd like to have 10k.

Leon 12-05-2015 06:51 AM

Downsizing can be a good thing. I have recently considered that with my rppc collection. Just too many......it seems a good time to weed out some and save the best!!
