Lots of record-smashing prices. Over 3K for a PSA 6.5 Koufax rookie, yikes.

That, to me, is insane....would another seller of the same card have gotten that much? He sure has a pretty dedicated following!

Many of the 1952 Topps went really low actually high number PSA 6s under $200 for example and PSA 8 common numbers close to $100 instead of $200...

Yeah, the off the charts prices these days seem to be limited to a relatively small grouping of cards. The new money is chasing certain Mantles, a few rookie cards, Green Cobbs, and 52T Mayses, and possibly a few more.

8K plus for a PSA 6 53T Mantle was none too shabby either.

Curious what the autograph experts on this board thought about that one. GAI LOA, but then saw stuff posted on line saying GAI was still pretty well trusted when that authenticator (Mike Gutierrez) was there.

I found some old Mays autograph pics on line, but couldn't find any that looked like that (that said, didn't spend much time looking). Was an intriguing card to me, but also made me a little nervous.

Normally, I only bid (snipe) within the final 10 seconds of an auction I'm trying to actually win. This week however, I had to "shotgun" over 50 bids on PWCC cards, just to get them on my watch list, as I had run out of allotted space on my watch list.

Given the number of auctions PWCC runs each month, I suspect many other bidders have to do the same.

I had that feeling as well, I kept asking myself- Why is this not graded/holdered already??? Would it not command more money???
And if I did win it, I got to factor in cost to send it off to do so and hope its not a worst case scenario.
I love to hear others chime in too on the auto.

I'm quite confident that's a wife or secretarial signed Mays.

There have been plenty of threads on this type of Mays autograph on the Auto side of the house:

So once again an authenticator blew it and someone paid a lot of money based on it. Nice.

This was the sig I found on line that cast the most major doubt with me. I know his early 1950's sigs had a very legible W and M.. But saw this check from 1961 which did as well. Per the LOA on the GAI Mays, it was supposed to have been signed at a game in 1958.

The signed rookie also seemed super bold to me. Most sigs I got at games as a kid were pretty sloppy and quick... Not to say that's applicable here, but just my experience. Regardless the 1961 check sig looks nothing like this supposed 1958 sig.

I bid on a few but most were quickly bid up right away. I played again only to have the same happen so I bowed out early as I thought I was likely out of my league with the normal big hitters I see at these auctions.

It wasn't until after, when I checked my watch list, that most didn't go much higher!

I was watching the 1954 Red Heart Dog Food set break. I needed 3 cards to finish my set in PSA 8 or better. I was hoping to finish it. I did win 2 that I needed. The 3rd one was a PSA 8.5. It sold for almost double what I expected it to bring. Almost all of the PSA 8.5s and 9s sold for well over VCP. I did win a few of these but overpaid.
