I love finding diamonds in the rough, so to speak. Bought a lot from Saco Auctions a couple of weeks ago, and was thrilled to find this gorgeous Dougherty didn't have any hidden creases or other maladies (SGC confirmed that with its grade this weekend).

<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/oMR22RjbnFL4llr2ltvKNUbbPrYp6YHrRqcN_cfzkkQ?feat=e mbedwebsite"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6ksOQ1PlMSQ/VhBm3govVPI/AAAAAAAApog/aBF22RaamEA/s800-Ic42/Dougherty_Arm_In_Air_SGC_60.jpg" height="800" width="480" /></a>

And the diverse group from whence it came:

Cool pickups for October so far. I hope I can show off some stuff I pick up soon.

Love that Waddell card! I have the Waddell throwing card in my St. Louis Collection but still need to pick up the portrait version. Great card!

Scott

cardsfan73 10-07-2015 01:33 AM

Latest addition to my St. Louis Collection. I am up to 16 T206 Cardinals/Browns cards now, only 24 more to go... But I seriously doubt I'll ever get my hands on a Ray Demmitt or Bill OHara.

Here's another toughie for my Pittsburgh Type Collection (hopefully). I know Lindstrom played for the Pirates in 1933, but I can't tell if this photo is of him wearing a Pirates uniform. Does anybody know?

Hope to have these and a bunch more in hand within the next 10 days to two weeks. MOST of them will be available for sale. I will also be putting some up to a major auction house in the very near future.

This was the Profiles In History Glass Plate Negatives lot from their last auction. Lots of nice stuff including 17 Babe Ruths, 4 Walter Johnson, Lou Gehrig, Honus Wagner, 3 Christy Mathewsons (one signing a baseball!!!), Frank Baker, etc.

You can certainly inquire about pricing. Many are known to be Bain photos.

That Gehrig photo really shocks me.

Not only is it incredible, but in a time where weight training was incomprehensible and most of the players lifted nothing but beers and lit cigars (talking to svelte Ruth there, lol) that guy is a bear compared to everyone.

Mr. Wagner wishes to say hello. He asks that you take a gander at his popeye like arms and reconsider your position.

This glass plate negative is part of the collection and will NOT be available for sale.

Lol.

I look at those photos and think how much my high school baseball coach would have yelled if I choked that high on a bat at the plate. Times sure do change.

If I put up stats like Wagner I guess I might have got a pass. :D

Will most likely never afford the "Chicago on shirt - Hands on Knees" Tinker - but one with the faded "Chicago" will do (usually found on Sweet Cap. 150's from what I've seen.)

There's no such thing as a "Chicago on shirt- Hands on Knees" Tinker variation...I think you're thinking of the Mordecai Brown version.

I believe there is a variation with "Chicago" erased, and some of "Chicago" is visible.

Iwantmorecards77 10-08-2015 11:07 AM

Sorry for the confusion, Nast Nati. I meant the printing error/freak that has both "Cubs" and the partial "Chicago" on his shirt:

Great card. There can't be too many issues that feature both Ruth and Gehrig.
