There are none of the big rare ones. No Plank, Wrong Wagner, Magee is spelled correctly and Doyle is just Doyle NY.

Having said that there are almost all the HOF players including a boatload of Young, Cobb, Mathewson, Johnson and Bender

Amazing. Can't wait until the auction.

insccollectibles 08-21-2014 01:49 PM

Will there be more information available about the auction in the coming months? Dates, where to bid etc?

atx840 08-21-2014 01:59 PM

Oh my. This makes me want to smoke a UZIT and take an ice bucket shower.

JeremyW 08-21-2014 02:39 PM

I'm not a big T-206 fan, but the tables-full-of-cards photo is amazing.

gregr2 08-21-2014 02:44 PM

WOW, that is a truly spectacular find!

...That depends on whether or not the bank approves MrVster's second mortgage...

Littering may account for the many brands

Being originally from Maine, this posting caught my eye. I have not read all (at this point) 66 replies but a recurring theme already seems to doubt how one person could "smoke" all those brands.

About 35 years ago my great uncle (born 1901) recounted how in his day he would observe cards discarded from time to time. My guess is, the original collector accumulated them himself but not always by buying the packs. In some cases at least he simply picked up discarded cards or empty packs still containing cards.

Hmmm, you are right but I find this odd.

I always thought you can't triple stamp a double stamp...

:o

haha I can just imagine Johnny looking like :eek::eek: when he first viewed that image.

Interesting to note that these cards were found not far from where I used to live (before moving down here to Missouri).

Will be on the lookout for these!!

If I'm seeing picture #3 in post #32 correctly, it appears there are 3-4 Titii (4th row from bottom, 4th column from left).

1400?
Pretty rare cards.

The Nasty Nati 08-21-2014 09:59 PM

What an amazing find! That double printed back is amazing. The rows upon rows upon rows of T206s just made my jaw drop.

I'm wondering how all of these recent massive finds like this and the Chesapeake find will effect the pricing of T206s.

If I had to take a stab at it, I would say these finds won't affect the pricing one bit. I believe there is more than enough demand for T206's to swallow whatever is coming our way.

I can't imagine it having much impact on pricing. It's not like anybody thought T206s were rare before this.

Error cards

5 Attachment(s)
Here are the error cards I have found

The Mathewson is subtle but you can see his name above and below.

I like the Ghost Image on the Francis Pfeffer Card.

Runscott 08-22-2014 10:26 AM

None of those are errors - they are miscuts and bad registration.

Sorry I didn't have the terms correct. I was just showing photos of stuff the guys asked for.

Centauri 08-22-2014 10:35 AM

These cards look awesome.

And BTW - Props to the use of Titii - the "correct" latin plural of more than one Titus.

Saco River Auction 08-22-2014 11:16 AM

Titus

There are three Titus cards in the group which are graded:

EPDG 5.0
EPDG 3.0
Sweet Cap 2.0

Glad I sold mine before the market was FLLOOOOOODDDEEED!

Theo_450 08-22-2014 05:27 PM

Just Incredible!

My theory on the multiple backs is not original. I remember a story where a smoker back in the day would check all the trash cans in his workplace at the end of each day and gather all the discarded cards. His coworkers found out what he was doing, and saved him the trouble of digging through the trash cans, and just starting leaving them on his desk.

Davino 08-23-2014 06:43 PM

unreal!

Lundgren

Is it too early to see a list of what cards/backs are going to be auctioned? I'm really only interested in which backs are on the Lundgren Chicago cards.

granite75 09-02-2014 04:46 PM

Made it to the big time, my parents just saw it on the Maine local news tonight . Ayuh. Called me to ask if I knew about these cards.

Portland Maine T206 collection

Here in Portland , it is all over the news TV Radio Papers I went to my homepage this morning on Yahoo and it was the lead story---I believe most of the serious collectors know about this auction coming up---I will be there and hopefully can snag a Ty Cobb card but it will not be easy going to be some high prices anyway I look forward to it just wish it wasnt 4 months away Good Luck to all----Don

pawpawdiv9 09-05-2014 11:19 AM

Heres another story i found on the Hoard:

Wowwwwwww.

You are beyond fortunate to be consigned a find like this.

Congratulations!

Any chance you have some Brown Hindu portraits of the Big Train and Cy Young for us boys to fight over?

rp12367 09-06-2014 11:59 AM

WOW What a amazing find/hoard really makes me wonder how many other collections are out there like this just waiting to see the light of day. I live in a city with a lot of pre-turn of the century homes, every now and then, when I'm walking by them I wonder what might be hiding in the walls, attic's and crawl spaces... Really interested in what T205's were in this collection as well as their condition?

Runscott 09-06-2014 12:26 PM

Ralph, the only way to know is to start sneaking into people's houses when they are away, tearing out walls and looking around. I bet if you do that to 100 houses, you'll find something. You could also be in the news.
