Let's start this year w/ some points!

Going w/:

Cincy to top Houston &
Green Bay at home
Indy to spoil Ray Lewis last game and
RGIII (Wash) to send Seattle on a long plane ride home.

Going contrarian here...let's go long shots!

CIN over HOU
MIN over GB
IND over BAL

Thanks for taking on the role of, "Czar," Frank. It is greatly appreciated.

Playoff Pool Update

8 hours to go until the contest closes to first round entries at 3:30 EST.

Only 11 out of 16 permutations of possible outcomes have been selected. Therefore it is possible that none of the 55 entrants so far will get four points in the first round.:D

Net 54 favorites are HOUSTON, GREEN BAY, BALTIMORE & SEATTLE, a combination favored by 14 entrants.

Let's get ready to rumble.

barrysloate 01-05-2013 05:53 AM

Entries closed for Wild Card games

58 entrants for the wild card round.

I will accept additional entries for next week's round of games, but anyone who is not currently entered will likely be 4 points behind if they are not already in the game.

GoldenAge50s 01-05-2013 06:16 PM

That's what happened to me last year Frank, but it's not too late to enter & make it up. I just wasn't able to! LOL!

EvilKing00 01-06-2013 01:51 PM

very exciting! Is there going to be a list for people and their points earned, - place they are in so we can follow and watch whos leading etc?

frankbmd 01-06-2013 02:14 PM

Wait for the smoke

Standings will be posted as soon as Red Auerbach lights his cigar in the Seattle-Washington matchup.:D

I think it might be just a bit too late:D Given how the Skins/Seahawks game is looking so far. 5 of us(assuming my count is correct) are in pretty good shape to go 4 for 4 in the Wild-card round.. And 2 points better than I did in the entire pool last year:eek:

EvilKing00 01-06-2013 03:15 PM

im 3 for 3 and i have washington! should of called a bookie! lol

sdkammeyer 01-06-2013 05:12 PM

Yeah, I guess I spoke too soon before:( I gotta wonder what the Skins were thinking. Even before that bad snap and RG3 collapse, he looked absolutely terrible. He clearly wasn't healthy. Cousins should've been in a lot earlier. Also, I don't think I've ever seen that many bad snaps. It seems like every other one was coming out low or just flat-out off target.

Divisional Round begins next Saturday 4:30 EST. Entries due by 3:30 EST Saturday.

The games are

Baltimore at Denver
Green Bay at San Francisco
Seattle at Atlanta
Houston at New England

Each game counts 2 points.

Jlighter 01-06-2013 05:33 PM

What happens in the event of a tie? Do we split the shirt in two?

barrysloate 01-06-2013 05:35 PM

Thanks for the quick results Frank. Looks like a ton of people got all four.

I like Seattle; that's a really good football team.

npa589 01-06-2013 05:48 PM

I'm definitely rooting for Seattle the rest of the way. I'm a Bears fan, and hate the Packers, so that's easy... Aside from that, when I was younger, I played baseball with a kid named Chris Maragos who ended up walking on at Wisconsin and made the football team, and then signed as an undrafted free agent in 2010 with the 49ers - and now is with the Seahawks.

I wish I would have seen this before the games started!

Just for fun, I'll pick the winners for this week:

New England Patriots
Denver
Green Bay Packers
Seattle Seahawks

Some storylines that I think we'll all be hearing:

Oh no! We made a mistake with Kaepernick! (After he is intercepted multiple times, and faces pressure he isn't used to.)

Atlanta can't win a playoff game.

Tie Breaker explained

There's is a tie breaker over/under contest for the Super Bowl. Closest guess to the total points in the Super Bowl wins the whole shirt. :)

Duplicate guesses in this round will not be allowed.

Only those with a chance of winning, who will be identified in advance, will be entered in the over/under event. ;)

If this doesn't break the tie (one entrant 2 points over and one entrant 2 points under), I guess we'll have to split the shirt. Over gets the left side and Under gets the right side. :D

wolf441 01-06-2013 05:48 PM

Oh well, 3 out of 4 - I should lose a point for not realizing that the Bengals haven't won a road playoff game since.....ever.

That should work. It's better then my solution of a three day battle royale.:)
