Thank you.

By the way, based upon how poorly GB's defense was playing, and how well the Cards offense was playing, I just assumed they would have gone for it on 4th down. No sense punting!

I'm trying to add the picks to my spread sheet as you guys post them so I don't get too far behind.

If you decide to make an edit to picks that have already been posted, please give me a heads up.

Thanks!

barrysloate 01-13-2010 05:23 AM

Tim- do you think each round should hold more weight than the previous one? If, for example, two players finish at 7-4, but one picks the Super Bowl correctly and the other doesn't, that shouldn't really be considered a tie.

As a suggestion, 1 point for each wild card game, 2 points for the conference semi-finals, 3 points for the conference finals, and 5 points for the Super Bowl. Or we could just leave it.

Abravefan11 01-13-2010 05:36 AM

Barry I think that's a great idea.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with us changing the rules midway.

If someone has an issue chime in, otherwise I'll set up the spreadsheet to reflect the new Sloate scoring system.

barrysloate 01-13-2010 06:52 AM

The first round remains as is, it would just effect the upcoming ones...and the "Sloate Scoring System?"

GoldenAge50s 01-14-2010 05:59 PM

I don't know about you guys, but I find this week's games to be very tuff to decide on! I have finally made my decisions:

Arizona
Baltimore
Dallas
San Diego

Ksquared 01-14-2010 07:49 PM

let's try this again

OK..can't do worse than last week. I'll go with:

Saints
Colts
Cowboys
Chargers

Jim VB 01-15-2010 01:08 PM

Update to this week's games:

Saints just announced that they have re-signed Deuce McAllister. He may be active for this weekend's games. I'm SURE that will change some votes.

(As a side note, I can't believe the NFL allows teams to do that! There isn't a date the rosters freeze. Even the Cowboys just signed a coach that had beeen fired by Miami earlier in the week. He has already reported and will be on the sidelines Saturday.)

barrysloate 01-15-2010 06:12 PM

Hmmm...I picked the Cardinals to beat the Saints. Does McAllister tip the balance?

sox1903wschamp 01-16-2010 10:25 AM

Saints
Colts
Cowboys
Chargers

Abravefan11 01-16-2010 01:28 PM

Kick off for the first game of the weekend is a little over an hour away and five people from week one still haven't posted their picks for this week.

Remember picks need to be posted by 4:30.

barrysloate 01-16-2010 01:49 PM

Looks like we will lose a few players.

GoldenAge50s 01-16-2010 02:32 PM

All the easier it will be for me & Barry to win the big prize money!

Abravefan11 01-16-2010 02:35 PM

I thought implementing the Sloate Scoring System would keep everyone interested.

How long before we see that bat up for sale?

barrysloate 01-16-2010 03:25 PM

Hey Tim- is it too late to switch to the Saints? This game looks really bad.:(

Abravefan11 01-16-2010 03:35 PM

Barry - With the numbers of points put up in last weeks game and AZ just pulling to within 7, it's way to early to feel like you're on the wrong side of this game.

I've always heard the line - That's as goofy as a football bat, well now I've seen a football bat.

I missed the Saints running out, anyone know the story behind the bat?

barrysloate 01-16-2010 04:02 PM

Nothing like a good defensive struggle...the 49 points in the first half is a new playoff record.

ChiefBenderForever 01-16-2010 05:11 PM

Wow Saints unstoppable I hope the Vikings are ready!

Abravefan11 01-17-2010 07:01 AM

Updated Standings. Ties have not been sorted yet. I will do that after todays games. Double check your score and let me know if anyone finds a mistake.

Sloate Scoring System

Wild Card = 1 point for each win

Divisional = 2 points for each win

Conference Championship = 3 points for each win

Super Bowl = 5 points for win

Tim- I'm assuming most of the guys at the bottom simply didn't participate the second week. Maybe they no longer want to.

Abravefan11 01-17-2010 08:27 AM

Most of the names at the bottom are people that did not get their picks in this week, however there are a few of us that are 0-2 this week after going 2-2 or 1-3 in Week 1 and remain toward the bottom. :(

I've left the names of the five that didn't get their picks in this week on the list in case they do want to play next week. It won't hurt anything to include them I don't think.

barrysloate 01-17-2010 05:59 PM

Well that's the last time I bet against the Jets...they are going to win the Superbowl!

GoldenAge50s 01-17-2010 07:13 PM

I said earlier that I thought this week was tough for me to pick--so I spent extra time and gave it extra thought! So how'd I do?-----0-4!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I've said it before so forgive me for http://www.buzzlife.com/forums/image.../deadhorse.gif

It's been a tough year for kickers.

Full standings will be up tomorrow.

sox1903wschamp 01-17-2010 11:45 PM

Hmmm...my predictions have yielded a 4-0 record on Saturday games and 0-4 on Sunday games. No more Saturday games so I am doomed :).

barrysloate 01-18-2010 04:42 AM

I'm glad I don't pick football games for a living! I feel your pain Fred (1-3 for me).

I faded myself last week and it didn't work very well.

What a great Super Bowl it would be with Peyton vs Farve.

With the Saints taking the Super Bowl in a blow out. I'd rather see a Saints/Colts match-up but there's something about the Jets.

The only question with the Vikings how many touchdowns they win by, two or three ?

Actually I have several other questions, most notably; 1) Are the Vikes healthy? 2) Can they stop the screen?; and 3) Can they win the turnover differential?
If yes to all, then you're right, as they are the better team all around.

It is heartening to know the Vikes won there last year on a Monday night, although by only 3, against basically the same team, while using Gus Frerotte at QB, having AP run for only 32 yards on 21 carries and yielding 330 yards passing to Brees.

Out on a limb.....

Saints
Jets

Yes they are healthy and ready, but so are the Saints so as long as our defense plays like they did against Dallas Brees wont be able to light it up and Reggie Bush won't be able to run at will. Of course if the Vikings play like they did against AZ they are in trouble but hopefully that doesn't happen. Should be a good game !!

nolemmings 01-22-2010 07:38 PM

well

Harvin missed his third straight day of practice, and since he is involved in a variety of plays designed just for him, that can't bode well. Edwards and Williams are ouchy, and Winfield still is not 100% (with his replacement Sapp also banged up and questionable). Plus Brees, unlike Romo, does not require much time to release the ball, and the Saints are great on the screen against overzealous pass rushers and a mediocre Viking linebacker corps (Greenway needs to come up BIG). So proceed cautiously, Viking's fans.

If those guys are a little banged up Vikes probably only win by 10.
