Picked up a Topps Gretzky with a 1980s signature. Being in pen, it kind of gets lost against the darker parts of the card but happy to have it.

They are the same as what came in the packs but do not have the swirl on the surface. The Bay box set has the same amount of auto as what
the pack pulled set had(36 cards) But some players did not sign for The Bay. SO there are 12 players that did not make it into the Bay sets. But
many players signed multiple cards Plus there are two autos that were never in packs. John Ferguson and the trainer Joe Sgro.As you can see
by the scans.Someone tried to make a complete set of in person autos. They are all the ones signed in blue ink.The gold ink are from the Bay
box set.Thanks.

Great looking cards, Camaro. :)

I still remember to this day the various teachers who rolled in the T.V.'s into class so we could watch the Summit Series. :)

Nice get.
Are you going to get it graded/authenticated?

Signature is even harder to see behind plastic, so maybe a JSA letter sometime when they’re in my neighborhood.

Giroux 03-16-2024 03:11 PM

Nice Gretz!

Owned his rookie at one point and will definitely add one to stash in the collection again one day

Yeah, they are getting more affordable all the time it seems. Was able to upgrade my O-Pee-Chee copy recently and very happy with it.

Just some random pick ups over the last couple/few months.

camaro69 04-17-2024 12:51 PM

Bought one box of the 22-23 Parkhurst Champions and pulled this redemption. What surprised
me was just how fast Upper Deck go me the card. Less than 10 days (7 business days).
So good for Upper Deck. Thank you. Very nice card,3 colour patch plus an auto. So not really a pick up. Thanks.

camaro69 04-20-2024 01:08 PM

OK, I picked up these couple pictures of Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr.I have no idea where or how
they were obtained back in the day. So any help there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bobby Orr measures 10-7/8 inches X 16-1/4 inches

1957 Parkhurst HOF Jean Beliveau arrived today from the great white north, leaving me two cards shy of the complete set Henri and Maurice Richard left to go!

camaro69 04-25-2024 10:19 AM

So this is more of a project than a pick up that I have been working on for the last couple months.
I recently purchased a good amount of the 1972 Team Canada autographs. Some were from the
set released by the Hudson Bay company signed in gold sharpie. But others were signed in blue
sharpie and I really liked the blue on the 1991 Future Trend cards. These were the same cards that
if you were lucky back in 1991 you could pull one of the Team Canada autos from the packs. These
autos are very scarce and to this day remains the only packed pull auto of Ken Dryden. Which is
next to impossible to find and when you do they cost a lot of money to obtain. So I knew these
packed pull autos with that swirl on the surface were not something I wanted to undertake So I went
with the blur autos and since I had a very nice set of the 1972 O-Pee-Chee Team Canada. I figured
why not just collect the autos of the 28 players in this OPC set. Take notice that the Dryden
is a cut auto. I did buy a Dryden PSA.DNA Dryden auto but I decided that I would sooner keep
that auto and go with this much cheaper version. It is an auto from one of his book signings. But
it still looks very nice. And as you can tell I would really like to pick up a Bobby Clarke and a
Gary Bergman in blue ink so it would look uniform all the way through So if anyone has either of
these two players signed in blue ink on the 1991 Future Trend card then PLMK.I see a few Clarke
autos on eBay but they are in the USA and people want like $25.00 for postage. When they
could just place in an envelope and send it for under $2.00.But I will eventually find them.
So that is the back story so on with what they look like. Thanks.

Great pick up, Anthony. Cheevers was most definitely one of my favorite goalies growing up.
Those "Dad's Cookie" cards I also remember well. Just wish I had of saved the ones I owned.

Thanks, it was an awesome price too which made it even better!

That's great to hear! :)
Imo, they are an underrated card/collectable.
I grabbed this Orr sometime ago and found out through a member here finding Orr or any of the others in 10's is rather difficult/rare.
Likely due to their size/shape, they aren't as desirable as regular cards and why they've never really taken off? But, then again, maybe some out there do have complete graded/raw sets?

I have a complete raw set.

I really like oddball cards like Dad’s Cookies. I have to imagine the print run was much more limited than the regular OPC/Topps sets but I could be wrong.

Well when you think about the market they were made for then it is
absolutely a lot smaller run then either of the two major releases.
I just purchased over 150 of the 1928-1934 LaPresse photos and
with them only being distributed in the province of Quebec you can
imagine how few are out there. And now that are 90+ years old.
They are really quite scarce.

I remember pulling these back in 70-71 in bags of Dad's cookies. I think I was pretty relentless with my parents to purchase these and the Esso power players by constantly asking my father if he needed gas? :D
Later it was the Loblaws sticker album and of course the stickers which I still have. (partial view upper left)

Picked up 4 complete sets at the show on Sat. Also not to be out done a bit of vintage as well. Thanks.

I normally do not buy Topps hockey. But these few vintage cards were to nice to pass up.Thanks

camaro69 07-10-2024 08:33 AM

So my latest pickup(on Tuesday) was a complete set of the 1968-69 Post NHL Marble set.
The game board is still in it's original box with the shipping label still there. The board is as
nice as I have ever seen. It also has the game instructions which is printed in both English
and French. The only thing I am not sure about are the two dice that came with it.I would have
thought the game would have had one red die and one blue die.But mine are both red so I am
not sure if they are original or not.If someone knows than PLMK. Thanks.

Picked this up today for what I think was a good price. I honestly don’t have enough experience with Parkhurst so I’d like to make sure it’s not a reprint. Looking for Irv, Camaro, or any others to weigh in. Yeah, the back is a mess but I’m not looking at that :)

Anthony, I'm certainly not a Parkhurst expert either, (nor am I with any others) but it looks good to me.
I tried to find a/some reprint(s) on eBay of your card but came up empty. Not conclusive, of course, but a good sign, imo anyways, that maybe that particular card was never reprinted?
Congrats on the pick up.
Enjoy. :)

Looks 100% OK to me.One of the quickest and easiest ways to tell.Is that most of the reprints are actually the size of modern cards.
While the Parkhurst cards are actually a bit higher then the new stuff. These Parkhurst sets were 2-1/2 X 3-5/8 while modern
cards are 2-1/2 X 3-1/2.Also most all the reprints are much thinner stock. It looks like a few layers to the cardboard when you
look at the paper loss on the back. This indicates a much thicker stock them modern cards. Take care and happy collecting.

Thank you both for the quick replies. I’m pretty well versed on the 60s and 70s but the 50s are a different animal for me. Glad I made the pickup at the price. Also got a couple of “modern” oddball cards that I’ll post today.

That will be great. I really like oddball stuff.I like it because in some cases what was released in BC may not have been released here in Nova Scotia
Or if it was released it may have different players or pictures on the cards. Looking forward to what you have.Take care and happy collecting.

Yes they are pretty nice. I was very surprised when they arrived just how white the boarders were.
That old paper always seemed to yellow or brown very easily. Now I only wish I could find some vintage non sport as nice.
