Posted By: Tom Timmerman
I emailed yesterday asking for an update (and a little reassurance given everything that's going on). I received a reply which only gave me the shipping rules from the catalog. Personal check is considered cleared after 10 business days. Shipping will happen within 5 days after. That means that all of us who paid immediately by check can expect our packages the week of March 23. Those who claim they paid by check and already received theirs must be mistaken.

Incidentally, I also called the new Legendary number before I received the email reply. A few hours later, Doug Allen called me and said it should probably arrive the middle of next week.

So there you have it. If you paid by check, you can expect to receive your winnings, last week, today, next week, or the week of March 23.

TT

Or consignment money from the February auction? And when you call Doug asking about the consignment money does he say "I don't know anything about Mastro owing you money--I work for Legendary Auctions now?"

Posted By: Tom
Happy to report I got my winnings in a timely manner. Also while it seems they were dragging their feet and ignoring all messages during the transition regarding consignment payments (I had mentioned in another thread that I had not received) as soon as the new venture was announced they provided great follow up and sent my check right out. Know this thread isn't about payments but to be fair I wanted to say they settled things up on this too.
Tom

Posted By: Mark
Still waiting for the goods... taking forever, it seems. I paid promptly by check, but you would think they would know/trust me after a decade of purchasing and consigning. I guess they have a 10 day hold policy, or something like that.

Appreciate the heads-up, can't complain.
Sent Scott and Leon payment on March 12 (was waiting for my AIG bonus, thanks for your patience), cheque cleared March 17, package delivered March 18. Thanks for the Red Carpet treatment, guys!

Edited to add that my Mastro winnings arrived today sans fancy packing tape but otherwise in good order and in good time. I appreciate that they didn't pull that "hold for 10 days after check clears" shtick like some of the other auction houses. Why they are taking forever with some of you and not with others is a mystery, seems almost random and I was just lucky I guess.

No notification or status update of any kind, and it is making me nervous.

You would think there could be just one person to answer the phones over there. Customer service is non-existent, and the "Legendary people" might want to reconsider this, given the fact that the old Mastro customers will also represent their new customer base.

The Legendary backdrop had all the old Mastro prices realized and photos.
Anyway, they claim that everyone has been paid and all packages had been shipped from the Mastro auction. Wonder how they knew that? I have not won anything for a few years, but I hope you all get your winnings soon.

I can't believe the piling on to this company. I am pretty sure most of you have had positive dealings with Mastro buying and consigning. I am certain everybody will receive their money and goods.

Joe Maples

Ty Cobb, Spikes flying!

Posted By: Mark
Joe...

That's the very reason that so many have posted to this thread with comments of disbelief. What was the undisputed premier auction house over the past decade has now reached the point where there isn't even a receptionist to answer their phones.

The company who was unparalleled in terms of customer service can no longer return a phone call or provide a tracking number. It is almost unthinkable to see how far/fast the "empire" has fallen. To your point (as both a consignor and bidder) there was never a single problem in the past... only positives. That's why it is so startling that not a soul remains, who is available to speak with. Even a blanket voice-mail recording would be somewhat comforting.

Needless to say, the goods are still in limbo, with no return phone call, notification or email. Hopefully Monday...

Posted By: Glen V
Mine came Friday. I was a little slow paying by check, so didn't expect anything much earlier. I'm happy with Mastro and haven't had anything to complain about, but understand the frustration of others - hope everyone gets their packages soon. My only complaint is with UPS, which called Thursday to tell me they were delivering a package sometime between 8am and 9pm...

Posted By: Mark
It seems to me that some confusiona and delay should be expected. The people at Legendary Auctions must know that bidders and consignors would hold them responsible should Mastro fail to come through with the items and the money that is owed.

My item was beautifully packaged, and I would like to commend Mastro for the many years of fine (top notch) service they have provided.

I can attribute many of my finest pieces to Mastro, and have acquired some wonderful items... thanks to them. They have been working under difficult conditions as of late, and I look forward to seeing the new company's offerings. Posted By: Dave F

Mark-

I disagree with hitting the panic button too soon. WE all know there are consigners from past auctions still waiting on money. It has been weeks since this auction ended, and I never got a single line of communication from Mastro until this.

Posted By: Mark
Understood... I was just trying to put things in proper perspective, as Mastro had served most of us very well over the past decade. I just wanted to acknowledge their many years of fine service, as opposed to the last few weeks, which were admittedly rough for many of us.

After having a few conversations, I believe that the few people remaining at Mastro did the best they could under the circumstances. Much of the fear and panic here was due to rumor and innuendo, rather than based on fact.

What I am trying to say is that my long-term memories of Mastro will be positive (this last little glitch not withstanding). Anyway, I am glad we both got our "stuff" and can breathe a sigh of relief.
