Posted By: <b>John S</b><p>I had a card stolen in the mail. I received the envelope directly from mail carrier so it did not happen post-delivery. The envelope had been slit down the side and contents removed. I know my carrier very well and am not concerned with him. <br><br>I am waiting on a scan from the seller to post. The card is an E254 Hunter with a deep diagonal crease on the lower right portion of the card. This is $15 card...no big loss. I am more concerned with preventing future incidents. It would be nice to nab the scumbag. <br><br>My postmaster said that this is the third similar complaint in the last week.

They have "ways" of monitoring the mail as it is sorted...ever notice those high slits in the walls??? that's where postal inspectors actually prowl the walls to observe.<br><br>I hope you can nail the person responsible. I am assuming you have no concerns about the seller or his shipment methods, thus it must be a postal job.

The PO crooks were not caught.<br><br>I just tried to take that loss off my income tax but it didn't work.<br><br>

I had begun to forget about the USPS losses of that beautiful red E98 Coombs that even Bruce D. would have wanted, the Goudey Waner, and UPS losing an entire set of E98s. The Coombs was insured for the low sum I paid for it (karma?) and the E98s coming back from GAI were also, although I way under-insured it based on what the Wagner, Cobb and Old Put Clarke were even then worth. <br>Things (knock on wood) have been much better lately <img src="/images/happy.gif" height="14" width="14" alt="happy.gif">

It was going to be a gift for my nephew who has become interested in the Colgan's as he has watched me attempt to put together my set. I really would like to catch the individual (especially if he/she is working at my local post office) so this is less likely to happen again. <br><br>I have already contacted the couple local card dealers who are friends of mine.
