Posted By: Dan Bretta
Michael, did that person cut up the T202's or did they find them like that? I'm sure it was tempting for kids back in the days to cut those up.

Posted By: Michael Steele
Dan, good question. I think they were on ebay but since I finished my Red Sox T-202 subset, I did not pay much attention other then to roll my eyes when I saw them. There may have been a small thread on them on this board but not sure. My guess is they were already cut up they did get some good money for them. I think there was a Cobb.

With that said, this is a much dumber since this person knowingly tore this cabinet apart thinking it was a natural thing to do.

Posted By: Rhys
Not so dumb when you consider he made over $600 by incorrectly identifying the team and the players. There were enough similarities to make some people think McGraw and Burkett were on there, but the rest of the guys were not even close. Not only that, but the uniforms dont match any year that St. Louis ever played. I spent some time researching these items because at first glance the Burkett and McGraw look pretty close, however, when taking the other photos into consideration, I dont think there is ANY way these photos are who he reports them to be. Take a look at the ones he says are Mike Donlin and especially Bobby Wallace if you want a chuckle.

Rhys Yeakley

Posted By: bmarlowe
I know this was weeks ago, but I thought the following might be interesting --

This same item had been honestly described and previously sold by Heritage last December:

HA Dec 21 2008
Early 20th Century Baseball Team Photograph. Exceptionally-composed team photograph from the early 20th century originates from the Griffith Studios in Stanberry, MO. Ten attractive portraits have been mounted onto a back which measures 11x14". Pinholes and rounding to the corners can be counted among the flaws, along with some regions of light foxing. A tremendous visual example nonetheless.

Lot # 43147 $143.40

-----

I was pretty dumbfounded to see it a few weeks later on ebay so fraudulently described. I actually was able to contact the buyer after he paid over $600 for this - and last I heard he was in the process of getting a refund.

I believe the team is possibly early 1910's Springfield - a number of minor league teams had a similar logo - but it exactly matches some late 1900's Spalding Guide team photos of Springfield. That's all I know.
