Posted By: Edward
Greetings,

My name is Edward. I will tell everyone a little bit of background story about myself before I go into the reason I decided to post this thread. I am from the deep south state of Georgia. I was born in Atlanta in 1977 and I graduated from High School in Savannah Georgia in 1996. I went into the military right out of High School and got stationed overseas in Japan. I left the Navy in 2004 and currently work as a USCS worker (Logistical support for the Navy) here in Japan. Now that my introduction is out of the way this is the reason why I decided to post.

I am looking for Pre-war Braves team checklists. Does anyone know where I might find one? I am looking for the following teams checklists:

Boston Red Stockings, 1876-1883
Boston Beaneaters, 1883-1907
Boston Doves, 1907-1910
Boston Rustlers 1911-1911
Boston Braves 1912-1936
Boston Bees 1936-1941
Boston Braves 1941-1953

I have been a Braves fan for as long as I can remember. I have been wanting to start a pre-war Braves collection for a long time. Any information that you might have would be great. I would like to start my collection off on the right foot. Thanks for your time.

V/R

Ed

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Hello Ed,

First, welcome... Occasionally some of us are a bit abrasive, I understand that puts some folks off from ever posting.

I'm not aware of a listing of all of the cards of the prewar Braves franchise, which would include all of those. There may well be one, and if there is someone here should know.

I do think that a list of the Doves and Rustlers in T206, T205, and T207 can be determined without too much effort, especially if you have some of the old books, Sugar's Sports Collectors Bible would help, as would a couple of Mr. Lipset's encyclopedias. Are you familiar with those series of cards??

Figuring out the Braves cards in the 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack cards would be easy, too.

Have you any of the old books, encyclopedias, or catalogs??

Have you considered starting with a focus of 'all of the Braves in T206' first, for example??

Frank W.
