Posted By: marshall barkman
I have read a few posts and now folks are saying BRING THE NOISE. I am laughing so hard my stomach is aching.

I have and idea of making up t-shirts with a t-206 honus wagner card on them with him saying BRING THE NOISE. As a matter of fact i am going to make one and wear it to the National.

Posted By: Brian
"Bring the Noise" is a song by the hip hop group Public Enemy. It was included on the soundtrack of the 1987 film Less Than Zero (see 1987 in film) and was also released as a single that year. It later became the second track (and the first actual song) on the group's groundbreaking 1988 album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (see 1988 in music). The single reached #56 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

The song's lyrics, most of which are delivered rapid-fire by Chuck D with interjections from Flavor Flav, include boasts of Public Enemy's prowess, an endorsement of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, retorts to unspecified critics, and arguments for rap as a legitimate musical genre on par with rock. The lyrics also have a remarkable metrical complexity, making extensive use of meters like dactylic hexameter. The title phrase appears in the chorus. The song also gives several shout-outs to artists like Run-DMC, Eric B, LL Cool J and, unusual for a rap group, thrash metal band Anthrax, allegedly because Chuck D was flattered about Scott Ian wearing Public Enemy shirts while performing Anthrax gigs.

The song's production by The Bomb Squad, which exemplifies their style, features a dissonant mixture of funk samples, drum machine patterns, record scratching by DJ Terminator X, siren sound effects and other industrial noise.

"Bring the Noise" was ranked #160 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
Not gonna happen. He (hey Marshall) absolutely said some things that ruffled some feathers and offended a few folks. I don't like that part of the old thread. Sorry guys, I don't think Marshall is a bad guy though...if you ever speak with him in person you will see. Mostly he was lashing back at getting some ribbing (some of it he deserved)....Also, just as I had said earlier....had I asked him to stop he would have. Bruce D and Jim C are the same way, if they ever get into arguments they would back off if asked. And all are still good contributors (though I don't always agree with them ) The ones that wouldn't stop aren't here anymore. Again, I absolutely know some folks will not like what I say on this matter but I am just being honest...He's not a bad guy but said things he shouldn't have...mostly in retalliation, I believe.

But Marshall- I am not sure your board presence is going to fare well for you if you keep up too much rhetoric. I understand everything you said was just off the cuff, and what you thought at the time, and I truly don't believe you were feeling malicious, as you stated on the phone. But we are a community and I know you understand I need to look out for the collective board...so be cool, please. A little diplomacy wouldn't hurt much. And we can have many beers if you make it to the National..take care

Maybe yours can just say "'55 all americans" and we'll know who ya' are.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I don't think Marshall is a bad guy.... He definitely has a stuck button on PSA (who here doesn't?) and he doesn't seem to be able to take what he gives, but I don't think he will be long for Net54 if he starts threads like this which are only intended to provoke.

They have enlarged scans with good detail of the Fats Henry card and the other shirt has the Four Horseman. Very cool. I will be wearing it in Cleveland, you'll recognize me.

Somebody ought to get a booth that can produce shirts quickly and scan cards on 'em the Natl and sell 'em. Could be lucrative.

Posted By: Al C.risafulli
One thing about "Bring the Noise," to follow up on Brian's excellent post - it really is a good song, as Public Enemy was one of the best hip hop artists ever. The song was actually covered by Anthrax a few years later (more of a duet than a cover, really), making it a forefather of the hip hop/metal crossover crap that has been clogging up the radio for the last ten years or so.

I wouldn't classify "Bring the Noise" as Public Enemy's best song, however, as that's an honor I'd bestow upon "Fight the Power."

-Al

I understand Leon's position, but if this poster insists on screaming BRING THE NOISE with every post he is going to get a lot of longtime members very upset. Posted By: marshall barkman
How about way to much drama. All i was doing was making a remark about a cool t-shirt because it would be cool to see a t-206 honus wagner card screaming BRING THE NOISE and the last time i checked the card does BRING MAJOR NOISE at 1,750,000. Also i found it odd that since everybody hates that slogan then why were guys saying it in other posts? The funny thing is that my post was just a casual remark but i guess some egos were stung in the old thread hence all the drama. In response to Leon's comments i feel other folks crossed the line to and i have said nothing to him about banning someone or such nonsense and took it all in stride. I think what makes this country great is freedom of speech and a little kidding around with a few good laughs is good for the soul. I was not offended by anyone's remarks and really just gave responses to defend certain accusations. To be truthful to call someone a fraud in today's age is borderline slander especially when it is so easy to do a little research to find the cards i was talking about that were sold at auction that belonged to me.

By the way most all people in the card game gamble and have a good time. Every major show i ever attended most all the high rollers in the grading game could be found at either a great bar or local strip club BRINGING MAJOR NOISE.

I was not going to respond to any comments but this whole troll and ban the guy thing reminds me of like 2nd grade kickball. Wahhhhhhhh he is to good and kicks the ball to far don't let him play Mrs. Murphy Wahhhhhhh.

Newsflash and this just in that Tim Tebow is now wearing a shirt under his gators uniform and we are zooming into it now......hmmmmm what does it say?

Yep you got it BRING THE NOISE and lay the 3 because Florida romps baby.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Oklahoma I'm afraid is going to get hammered in this game. They have a defense that can make spectacular plays, but they also are prone to giving up huge plays. Factor in the Heisman jinx and I think Florida wins this by two TD's or more.

Posted By: marshall barkman
Believe me jj there will be a ton of professional gamblers trying to tease Oklahoma and getting 12 into the pro games. There will be also be heavy action on the Sooners now that the line has gone to 6. Final prediction is Florida 45 Oklahoma 28. If i were in Vegas i would roll down to the Mirage and look for the exotic bet where i would get around 3 to 1 on my money and actually take florida -14 because i think once Tebow smashes into a few of the Sooners they will realize he is BRINGING MAJOR NOISE.

I still think a little diplomacy and kindness is needed....but the facts are true....I would also appreciate an apology from Marshall, to those that he really insulted, but am not holding my breath.
