Posted By: Matt
Dan - I just posted about this seller, but you can delete my post and I'll add my comments here.

Anyone know eBay seller "tg"? He's been selling some expensive reprints on eBay recently. He had this up a few weeks ago and wasn't interested when I suggested it was a reprint:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290284514188

My Trade/Sale Page

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Well I have my bid in now... didn't want him to go revising it very much.

All of my Barker back stamp stuff was stamped with dark, normal inkpad ink. Never seen that red stamp before!!!

If I win it I'll wear sunglasses when I put the uv light to it.

FW

Posted By: Jason
His name is Tim Galloway. Nice guy over the phone and I have won a lot a few years back from him. Everything was authentic, but I think a couple of items were trimmed and he did overgrade by about 2-3 grades. I would be leery of high end material of this nature, however. Why wouldn't he get this card graded? But those are some of the same questions I asked myself when I purchased his lot many years back. I think Dan Koteles might know of him.

Jason

Posted By: leon
I believe the seller is Lance's brother Tim. I have nothing against Lance or Tim...and Lance (hi Lance) is a fine contributor to our forum.

That Boston Garter is fake as a 3 dollar bill. My guess is that it was made on a color copier and glued together. I would bet on it if I were a betting person. The reason I say that is because the ONLY known Boston Garter Speaker with a Barker stamp on it was once owned by me....and it had a small bit of recoloring and came back an SGC AUT when I sent it in....I traded it for a different one....Here is another Barker stamp that is the same color on an M101-4. I have seen several of his stamps that are that color. (having 2 Boston Garter Speakers with the exact same stamp in the same place would be like winning Powerball twice in a row.....it could happen but the chances aren't too good)

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I emailed him right away that it was a reprint. He got right back to me and said he figured it was too.

Posted By: leon
He guaranteed the Ruth to be authentic and I would be fine with his guarantee.

Posted By: Matt
The Ruth has cropping issues I've only seen on reprints and never on an authentic one (notice the distance between the hat and the top border and the lettering and the left border). Doesn't look good to me, but just one man's opinion.

My Trade/Sale Page

Posted By: leon
I hadn't, and still haven't, looked closely at the Ruth card. I know if I bought it and it wasn't good then the seller would make it right. best regards

Posted By: Matt
I'd hope he would. I'm just worried that whoever bought it might not submit it for grading and might not know enough to tell the difference. Of course, I could be very wrong about it being a repro...

My Trade/Sale Page
