Posted By: Max Weder
Is Spider Baum the Baum from the Obak set? If so, I seem to recall that the Obak Baum was one of the double prints. Am I correct in my recollecton?

He is a member of the PCL Hall of Fame, and among the early PCL stars he ranks right up there with the best of the bunch.

You'll like this interesting exerpt from Horne's Zeenut's book... (reprinted from San Francisco Examiner article (5-26-1943) by Prescott Sullivan)
"...Kid's used to flip the pasteboards against the wall and the kid whose card came closest to the line took the works. We'll never forget the day we lost a treasured picture of "Spider" Baum in this manner. Baum, Seals pitcher, was a great favorite in those days and his picture was regarded as worth two or three of any other player because it was said to be "rare." The candy company which distributed the pictures often put out more of one player than they did another...
