If it's a minor league team you may have a chance at identifying the player if it's just a town team then good luck...you may never know. It also appears to be circa 1910.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
If I had to guess I'd say it stands for "Dover Athletic Association". Dover is the closest town to York that starts with a "D".

Posted By: DaveW
I don't know about the logo, but I was able to find out
that there was a James Ivan Spangler who was born in 1893
near York, PA and is also buried there. He appears in the
Penn State yearbook of 1915. If this is your guy, then the
photo is probably from the late 1910's. Not much help, but
better than nothing. Good luck,
- Dave
Posted By: davidcycleback
Antique cabinet cards, tintypes, etc can have value even if the player and team is not identified. For most tintypes, the player and team is unknown, and baseball tintypes generally sell for fair dollar.

It would raise the value to find out the player is in a minor league or college uniform, but being unable to id a subject isn't the end of the world. Besides, there's a good chance the subject is wearing a high school jersey.

Posted By: Robert {Bigb13}
Yes, I have tried quite a bit but have found nothing much with that name. Ok I get it I will not ask any more questions about this card. I just figured this may be the place where someone might know. I guess one must really be pretty sharp to know this one. Rob

Posted By: Mike McKee
I read this thread from beginning to end and wondered what the writer hoped this card to be.

It is a nice cabinet which looks period of a young man probably playing for a high school or normal school or maybe an athletic club. Maybe even a minor league club.

Obviously, the named has been researched to see if he played in the bigs. I assume he never did.

Maybe I am missing something but I do not understand the obsession.

Posted By: Robert {Bigb13}
Thanks to a lurker who emailed me I have found out that it is not Ivan but Alva Spangler and so far all I have found on him is that he played for South Bend and was playing first base. The following is what I have found. Rob----- In 1904 Frank "Red" Herbert died a day after a collision with South Bend's first baseman Alva Spangler
