Posted By: leon
Loving the esoteric cards, and seeing Todd's very nice T210 in the SGC holder, made me think of these. These would look better in SGC holders too but I doubt I will pay to have them redone...I know they are legit and unaltered.....It's also sort of interesting to see the different shades of orange these come in. If anyone has a yellow bordered one I am in need (I have seen a few)....anyone care to show another orange border?

Posted By: leon
My understanding is that only series 3 come in orange. I would guess that all of the players in that series will be available in orange. I have also seen many series 3 cards that were more faded than orange. While there are different shades of orange, as evidenced by my first post, I think they are quite different looking than the regular red ones or even the washed out looking red ones.....I don't think we have ever tried to show each of the series 3 in orange before....It is interestsing to see the different shades. Also, as I said I have seen 1-2 yellows also. I mean these cards I saw were bright yellow!!

Posted By: Brian McQueen
My favorite printing goofs. Love the neon orange borders these have. I enjoy them so much that I began the certain-to-be lifelong task of trying to build the entire series 3 set with just orange bordered cards. This would be going a bit easier if I didn't always have to compete with Leon on winning these

Here are some scans for you all. The Thebo Leon posted is the yellowest t210 I've ever seen. If this is not a "yellow", I'm not sure what is as I haven't seen anything that beats the Thebo in color. The Slaven I used to have is pretty similar though. I posted a scan of the Slaven as well as some of the t210 oranges I still have.

From my understanding, not every card in series 3 has an orange variant. I've only been able to locate maybe 14-16 players in this color. I track the cards as I see them come up for sale so I try to keep a record of every t210 orange or yellow bordered card out there.

Basically I believe these came into being because certain sheets of t210s missed the red color pass during the original print run. They're fascinating to see in person because the orange color is not a reddish orange or anything that's a subtle difference. They are a bright, neon orange which really sort of looks awesome on the cards.

By the way, check out the Jones in the scan below - in the upper, left corner. It's sort of a orange-yellowish hybrid of a card!

Posted By: leon
John Esch, a fellow N.Texan and friend, has a T210 that is a very bright yellow...like the Jackson above. It's completely different than any posted so far. I really like obscure stuff and these fall into that category....good luck in the hunt.......regards

Posted By: Anonymous
Heh, I still see people complimenting that Jackson...don't forget guys that the card's been 'shopped. But it was a very nice job though, that color does look pretty authentic!

Frank, I had most of the cards recorded already. No new players shown in this thread but Jeremy's Slaven was a specific card I had not recorded as of yet. The condition of all the cards is varied too. I have some beaters recorded, such as those that you see in my collection, however I have a couple SGC 60s recorded as well, which are the highest grades I have recorded for a t210 orange border. I think there's a PSA 5 too on my list.

I've got a large task in front of me trying to get as far along with this set as I can - only allowing orange bordered cards. So far I only have 9 different players and unfortunately, Series 3 just happens to be the largest t210 set with 95 cards in it grumble. So I've got over 90% of the set still to find... sigh. I'm paying pretty aggressive prices if anyone's willing to part with any though!

One interesting tidbit is while I've only come across 14-16 different players overall, I've found 3 different Slavens and 3 different Firestines. There are multiple examples of several other players too - Johnston, Curry, Gordon, etc... The significance of this is that we know for sure that there were multiple sheets of these that missed the red coloring during their original print run - not just one isolated sheet. I'll keep looking and keep tracking them....pretty interesting. If anybody out there reading this has any orange borders, I'd appreciate hearing from you so I can record them on my "population tracking database".

Thanks guys!

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Great info, Shammus. But a question for you. What if the orange bordered T210s were printed in sheets of 48, 16 different cards on there 3 times each?? Then there could have been only one orange sheet. I doubt that is what happened, but it is a possibility counter to your hypothesis.

I agree and think there were a few sheets where the red diminished to orange, and eventually a yellow one, then they stopped the press.

I'd deduce from 3 of some players in your small sampling that if you're already seeing 3 of some guys in series 3 and none of most of the others, then statistically there are probably some cards with orange, and some that were not printed that way.

What we need is for everyone who has an orange card, or knows of one, to get it posted here. Wish I'd kept up with the orange ones I sold years ago.
