Also, a big thank you to Pete Calderon at Heritage for working with me through a complicated bidding situation. I've had to sell some stuff I never planned on to make it happen, but I feel fortunate to have it.<br><br><img src="http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/6/7/8/8/1/7/webimg/195792429_o.jpg" alt="[linked image]"><br><br>The back of the card has scrapbook residue (glue and paper) but no paper loss. Has anyone had any experience removing glue from the surface without soaking the whole card? If the signature is ink, I would think dabbing some water on there would work best, and probably not affect the signature.<br><br>I'd be nervous!<br><br>Edited to add: I had a T206 Cobb with the name "Carl" written in fountain ink and I tried to get it off with a q-tip and water but nothing happened to the name.<br><br>

We never plan on anything bad to happen but picture this... you crack the slab, you get your water and materials ready. Ooops, you accidentally drop the card in the water and mess up the signature or you drop the card on a corner and now you can have a card with a cleaned back and squished corner...<br><br>Worse yet, you crack the slab, clean it up and PSA says the card is now altered and wont encapsulate it again... Ok, maybe not that...<br><br>The signature is great, who cares about the back?

Part of the significance of the '34 Goudey Gehrig to me is his quote on the back about hoping to play for "many years to come" which is why I would even consider removing the scrapbook paper. I appreciate the input.

It's in the perfect place, on my favorite Gehrig card - right under his smile, right above the facsimile signature on the card, at almost the same angle.<br><br>What a great card this is.<br><br>-Al

You can't put a number on that great script IMO. Perhaps a robotic arm and a razor blade...<br><br>From the description/photo I thought there was paper loss on the back, so I certainly am keeping the card regardless of whether or not the paper can be removed from the back. I was pleasantly surprised to have the card show up with no PL and hence the thread.
