Posted By: Bill
The card looks great it is Graded Authentic SGC. I'm Thinking about bidding, but what value does it take off the card? From the scan it looks great, I'm a collector who buy's the card......Thanks for the input.

Bill

Posted By: Jeff Prizner
I'd personally rather have a trimmed card that looks great than a beater that looks like crap for the same price.

Great way to pick up a nice looking card and save a buck.

Posted By: Jerry Hrechka
I have no problem buying a trimmed card IF the card is scarce & the price is right (low).

Posted By: Rob D.
Lloyd Waner was the last card I needed to complete my Butter Cream set. When I was offered one that was trimmed, I was thrilled to get it. I still have not been able to upgrade it, but I'm much happier having one that's trimmed as opposed to having that hole to fill.

Edited to add: a complete set without the Ruth. Damn Lichtman.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Rob, just because I'm stating a fact does not make this personal.

By the way, you have got to see this new Ruth I bought! Totally cool issue...skinny...no borders...just a cool looking card.

Posted By: Rob D.
Let me guess: It sold for about 5x what you thought it would. Yeah, I haven't forgotten that prediction.

Posted By: Bob Pomilla
I have and would, for the reasons stated by others, above. If it's an otherwise attractive card, not often available and there's an appropriate price, I'll go for it. Not to say there isn't a slight level of discomfort.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Yeah, I remember that. About 5 mins after I made the prediction the price was already past it -- a week before the auction ended.

Posted By: Jon Hardgrove
There are some I would buy (with an appropriate price reduction) that had been wadded up and used in a slingshot, and then straightened out and ironed!

Actually, the fact the dealer mentioned that it was trimmed might make me buy more items from the dealer. A little honesty goes a long ways.

Jon.

Posted By: Bob
I have no problem buying a nice looking tough pre-war card in an SGC Authentic holder. If I can upgrade it later, great, if not, I like it better than an SGC 10 (or raw card) which looks like it passed through the alimentary canal of a camel.
I predicted about a year ago that sometime in the future authentic graded cards which appear exmt are going to start passing up the 10s and 20s in value. I still believe that...

Posted By: Anonymous
I agree with most comments. A real, slightly trimmed sharp card is much nicer to have and to present than a true beater....I value them almost on par with 2s
if the trimmed card presents exceptinally well.

Posted By: Jason L
Yes, I would. Yes I have.
If the price is affordable, and it has really strong eye appeal. And the unaltered authentic card in a similarly presentable condition is generally priced out of my affordability range, I jump at it.

examples:
I've bought aT206 Keeler w/bat SGC AUTH that looks like an SGC92 for $128, which is far more affordable than the potentially more appropriate $1,280.

I've also bought a SGC AUTH 1953 Bowman Campanella that looks mint for $40.

very happy with both.
Posted By: Anthony S.
Yep. It only bothers me when I want to sell the card, as I find myself starting to resent the card for allowing itself to be trimmed.
