Posted By: Brandon
Hey Guys and Gals,
Just wanted to get some opinions on a potential crossover from PSA to SGC on this card. Has 2 small spots of paperloss on top back, which caused PSA to knock it down to a 2. It has SUPER sharp corners and no staining or any other detracting features other than the centering. What are my chances of attaining a higher grade from SGC if I crack it and submit it to them? Should I just leave it in the slab and hope for a 30 from SGC. Never have done a crossover yet, so just curious. Thanks!

Posted By: Tony Andrea
Due to the paper loss IMO, that card would not receive a higher grade by Sgc.
Nice card though.

Tony A.

edited to add compliment of card

Posted By: leon
I seriously doubt it would be a bump up due to the paper loss, as the others guys stated too. That is a perfect collector's card, imho. Great looking with just a little paper loss on the back that is mostly limited to blank areas....My perfect ones are a nrmt front with paper loss on a blank back. What more could a collector ask for?

Posted By: quan
steve i agree on the chance, just pointing out sgc is more tolerant of paper loss these days. the brown is a happy medium, that's a 50++++++ in my book even with the paper loss whereas in the past sgc might not have agreed.

edited for extra +++++ that brown is nice

Posted By: T206Collector
...that Chance and Brown are disappointing and, unless erroneously graded, reflect a shift in SGC's grading consistency, which, of course, means they would be less consistent.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for Net54 T206 archive, signed deadball card galleries, articles and more!

Posted By: Brandon
Thats what I figured, I wasnt sure how tolerant they were these days on small paperloss. I still plan to cross it over just because I like the appearance of SGC holders better. Hopefully it will stay at a 30 after they get done with it!

Brandon

Posted By: Jeff S.
I could be wrong but the numbers on the flips of the Chance and Brown lead me to believe they were graded years back.

Quan - are those the hologram or etched back cases?

Posted By: Wesley
Jeff, You are correct. The bar codes on Chance and Brown are longer than the shorter bar codes that SGC started using a few years ago. And of course, as of a few months ago, the newly graded cards can be identified by the back of the holder.

Posted By: Doug
This may be a dumb question, but is there any reason for the barcodes on the PSA and SGC holders? Is there some kind of scanning tool to verify the info on the label or something?

Posted By: quan
jeff i did not know older sgc cards (with the new style flip) had the longer bar...then these would def be older cards. something new i learned and will keep an eye out buying sgc cards in the future. thanks!

q

Posted By: Dustin
Brandon -
Have emailed you several times and have yet to get a response. You told me you would probably be able to pay for the Johnson T206 Friday. It is now Saturday and I have given you more than enough time to pay. Also, I saw that since this purchase, you have purchased other items and paid for them. Please let me know what is going on and why payment has not been made.
-Dustin Thompson

Thank you for your time.
Dustin Thompson
jdtcards
dustinthompson@comcast.net
