Posted By: Anonymous
I won this Willett card and thought it looked like the red color was missing. Today I got it and it is certainly pale orange. How do we come up with a value for cards missing a color?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=250292396742

I'd suggest studying it to see if the red is there, only faded a bit. I've bought cards from this seller that had been in the storm and in the scrapbook. I was quite happy with what I got, but I'm sure he soaked them to get them free from the pages and each other.

There may be some small premium for these, but the missing red is more compelling when it wipes out a "B" in a hat, like Sweeney.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for Net54 T206 archive, signed deadball card galleries, articles and more!

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
I think most Willett cards have a touch of red along the left
cheek, near where the nose is. Yours has ink there that looks
the same color as the background.

That could be because of a lack of red in the printing process,
or because there was much less red ink than is normal, or because
the card has been soaked multiple times or for a long time, and
maybe a bit of bleach was used...

I agree that his background is not the deep red normally encountered.

FW
