It was a tough time on our family but we took the attitude that we can beat it and so far, so good. Please feel free to email me if you ever need to.

======================================
For the premier online souce of information on baseball-related cigarette packs, visit http://www.baseballandtobacco.com

Both of my parents have beaten cancer numerous times, so please don't lose the faith. It's a tough burden to bear, but there will be lots of good folks around here to do what they can to help. My family's best to yours.

I should add that my brother (42 years old) has leukemia and my mother has been battling another form of blood cancer (Waldenstrom's) for five years. I know next to nothing about these things, but do know that some types of leukemia are not life-threatening. Again, all the best.

Jodi

Posted By: Chuck
There are probably so many people that read this board that rarely or never post. My hope is that for every response that you get from posters that are praying for you and your wife, that there are countless others that are doing the same. May Gods grace be upon you and your family. I will bring this to my church as well.

Sincerely,
Chuck Montoya

God is so big He can cover the whole world with His Love and so small
He can curl up inside your heart

Posted By: Jason L
and I add my name to the long list of well-wishers here.

But Michael is correct in the post above mine.
Research everything you can, ask the doctors every question, quiz them mercilessly, leave nothing unanswered or assumed. Be the most pain in the ass customer you could ever imagine, get multiple opinions and shop for the best treatment and attention, --because one of the cruel truths I have recently learned about healthcare, and about cancer treatments in particular, is that you are a customer, and no one doctor knows everything.

The squeaky wheel phrase does apply. You are your wife's advocate, speaker and assistant and she will be lucky to have you.
Posted By: Mark Anderson
Jerry, I don't know you and I don't know your faith, but I absolutely believe that God is capable of healing and I pray for that. No matter what, I pray for His peace and comfort and hope to be upon you and your wife and your families throughout this.

Mark

Edited to add:

Just read the posts right above mine, and I wholeheartedly concur: you MUST be your own advocate on this. For the last 18 months I have learned the importance of researching your options yourself, getting second opinions, dropping doctors who do not show an immediate personal interest in your wife's case, finding out everything possible about alternative treatments and suggested medications, etc. There are great doctors out there, and I am blessed to have found three who care very much about my health and stay in constant communication with myself and each other. Do not put up with any who treat your wife like a number.

Also, I recommend finding support groups, whether local or online. Connecting with others will help you all learn what to expect and remove the element of fearing the unknown.

Posted By: Rich Klein
And I will also add that you need to take care of yourself during this period. You need to keep eating correctly and exercising and taking care of your own health as well. I swear although that may sound like a contradiction, it actually will help you make better decisions.

Good luck to you and remember you have not only your personal (3D) friends and family support but a on-line support system. Take advantage of those of us as well who can help you.

Regards
Rich Klein
