He did forget his quarter which I think normally signifies Jupiter...

Shawn

I mean it's cool and I like it but I doubt I will try to "date" it ..... (joke from the memorabilia side)....and this is yet another world record price I have paid due to the addiction called "cardaholicism".....but I would rather look at this than a dollar bill.....I think...

Posted By: DMcD
Following is some of my haul from the National. The rest of the booty has been appended to the "Chicago National" album on my Image Event site. Have a look.

Robert Klevens had a terrific booth dealing in Japanese baseball. I have a bit of a Prince Oana thing going so I was thrilled to find this photograph. There are several more at my photo site. (Aratani was a Japanese-American businessman who sponsored a team which visited Japan in the late 1920's. The Honolulu Braves were a semi-pro team that played in the pre-war era).

The seller knew nothing about this photo other than its notation of "South Dakota 1945". Mark Macrae thought it might be a post-season hunting trip/barnstorming tour. What is interesting about this picture is that there are players representing seven or eight different teams as diverse as the Atlanta Crackers and Montreal Royals as well as numerous midwest ML teams. If you recognize any of the players I'd be glad to know it. Thought the Atlanta player looks like Hank Sauer but neither he nor his brother Ed played for the Crackers best as I can tell. On the Image Event site you can click "Original" to get a large version of the scan. Joe Jackson and Josh Gibson are not in the photo. They're back around the pool hall beating the snot out of Billy Gilliam.

"Squirmin' Herman" Wedemeyer is one of the greatest athletes Hawaii ever produced. Was fourth in the 1945 Heisman tally as a halfback for St Mary's. Played Duke on Hawaii Five-Oh.
Couldn't resist this 1930 Nakahashi card. Anyone read Japanese?

Terry Knouse (TIK) had a good number of 19th century cabinets to feast one's eyeballs upon. O'Day is from 1889 and Latham from 1890.

Careful, people. Billikens are habit forming.

Vintage cards, scantily-clad Chicago maidens, uku-zillion penguins, authentic Dutch people and more at . .
http://ImageEvent.com/kawika_o_ka_pakipika
