Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
The Goodwin Champions (N162) cards were printed in Philadelphia by the George S. Harris & Sons
Lithographic Co. Some N162 cards are found with this printer's Trademark........

"Geo. S. Harris & Sons, Lith. Phila."

......printed on their backs in very fine lettering at the bottom. But, the majority of cards do NOT
have this Trademark. My experience with completing almost four N162 sets (of 50 cards each) is
that only 10-20% of the N162 backs have this Trademark.

Yet, in a current major auction, an N162 set without the Trademark line is being advertised as
"the rare version".....I don't think so......but, let's get some other opinions.

How about it, all you smart N162 collectors, chime in with your observations as to whether the
Trademark or No Trademark cards are more available ?

__________________________________________________ ___________________/\_________________/\__________

T-Rex TED

My lone type is Kelly and it does not have the trademark....however, I would be surprised if the scarcer trademarked ones would bring more than a tiny bit more in auction....just my opinion....good observation though

I specifically see 18; however, there are potentially 3 others that have back damage of what may have included a trademark?

I agree with Leon that, regardless, it probably does not make much difference in the value.

Glenn Mechanick

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Both of you appear to be in agreement with my observation regarding the the infrequently seen Trademark
on the backs of the N162 cards.

And, I agree with both you that the Trademark doesn't really affect the value of these cards.

That being said.....can anyone explain the apparent contradiction in Lot #1 in the current Mastro auction
regarding this subject ?

TED Z

Check out the D310 description of lot 836--contrary to what it says, there have been one, possibly two auction lots in the last ten years that had more D310's.

Brian

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Having seen 200+ N162 cards, and I've recorded the ones with the Harris Litho. trademark vs the N162's
without it....there is 1 for every 4 (respectively). Or, approx. 20% of the total with the Trademark (TM).

If one considers the current ebay listing of N162's as representative of this, then 3 (Andrews, Keefe,
and Kelly) have the TM out of a total of 12 cards.....or, 25% with TM..

TED Z

Posted By: Anonymous
Ted - interesting finding. Have you been able to determine if all subjects are available with both options? Alternatively, perhaps on initial release there was a smaller group that had/lacked the trademark, and then was added in as part of a larger release that had the opposite?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
MATT

I'm still conducting that study. So far, at least 1/2 (25 subjects) of the N162's have the TM. Including 5 of the 8 BB players.

Thanks for your very good question.

TED Z
