Posted By: Adam
I think the real question is how did a "Joe" Doyle card get labeled as a "Larry" Doyle card?

Posted By: Adam
I don't see any suspect frosting, this look to me like PSA just made the wrong flip for the card. No?

Posted By: T206Collector
...just wrong flip. London Venture is also selling the right Doyle with the right flip here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/T206-Larry-Doyle-N-Y-Natl-Throwing-PSA-4-VG-EX_W0QQitemZ250271793077QQihZ015QQcategoryZ31718QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for signed deadball card galleries, articles and more!

Posted By: scott levy
I'm pretty sure this is PSA's error. London Venture is a relatively well known seller of T206s and would be really really foolish to blow their rep. in this card.

Regards,
Scott

Posted By: Denny Walsh
Well I didn't look at who was selling the Card! Only, On my cpmputer screen all of the edges are Not in the Photo that was shown. The Full Slab could Not be seen, That is all that I meant. If you can't see the Edges of the slab how would you know that there isn't any Frosting?
It's obvious to me that the flip was wrong. Every seller who doesn't show the entire slab, is hiding the rest of the slab they are not showing!
With that said,
My Humble Apologies to all & anyone I wounded along the way

Life's Grand,
Denny Walsh

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Why would London Venture use a private auction on such a card. Charlie B, can you shed some light on this?

Posted By: paulstratton
Not saying this is the case with this particular seller, but sometimes I wonder if some people intentionally write the wrong thing on the submission forms just hoping to get a certain flip.

Posted By: Matt
Paul - I hope that the grading companies don't use the particulars on the submission form for anything other then keeping track of what was submitted; it would be poor practice for them not to make a determination on what card it is for themselves.

Posted By: T206Collector
...are really for your own records, in my experience. You could write T206 Honus Wagner on every line if you like. They certainly can't take the submitters word for anything.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for signed deadball card galleries, articles and more!

Posted By: T206Collector
...it is a nickname reflective of the times. Check out how many players had that nickname:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/player_search.cgi?search=nig

I would agree that PSA should consider not using it. While we're on this happy topic, there are many "Chiefs" out there which are similarly offensive nicknames.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for signed deadball card galleries, articles and more!

Posted By: paulstratton
Well baseball-reference has him listed as Nig Clarke.

t206collector,
Well sure you could put Honus Wagner on every line but I was mostly talking about cards where a slight variation is in play. Sharpe-Shappe, Magie-Magee, etc..

edited to add the "put"

Posted By: leon
Get over it. You are reminding me of our local councilman John Wiley Price (who I think is an idiot), when in a recent council meeting went on a tirade because another coucilman used the term "black hole" correctly in a statement about a lack of operational ability at City Hall..Price thought it was a racist remark and asked why he didn't use the term "white hole"? A local judge (or lawyer) sided with him too. It made the local news for several days......the other 3 million N.Texas folks thought they were idiots. It was actually kind of funny. I am not saying you are an idiot ali, but some of the crap you come up with has me scratching my bald head .....

edited spelling of "council"
