Posted By: Matt
Some crazy paid $750 for this beater. Major auctions make people do silly things.

Posted By: Matt
Paul - but who would really want to own Walter Johnson's Walter Johnson? The one that he himself decided to paste into his scrapbook himself. The card is missing the whole back and has creases!

Posted By: Jeff Prizner
I'd rather have that one than just some PSA 3/4 that the $750 could have been used on. It's a lot more interesting.

Anyway, outbid on the n173 Anson, so nada for me.

Posted By: paulstratton
Avoiding the obvious Johnson jokes...I think a lot of people would like to own Johnson's Johnson. The creases and back damage wouldn't really matter all that much. You don't think Cobb's Cobb(even with the damage) would sell for more than a random 2?

Posted By: cmoking
The price seems a little low to me. I wouldn't be interested in it, but I would have guessed it would have gone for more than 1K.

Posted By: JimB
I think it would be really cool to own Johnson's own copy of his card. I would have thought it would have gone higher.
JimB

Posted By: Matt
Thanks guys! I was thrilled to pick it up at that price; my max was much higher.

Dave - congrats on your win! I'm glad you posted your card; to me, these kind of cards symbolize the best of card collecting even though they're not going to move anyone up the registry set rankings.
