Posted By: Kenny ColeHe was one of the early authors, Harold Seymour being the other one who comes to mind, who sent me to an earlier baseball era -- an era both good and bad. I always wanted to talk to him about his impressions of those people who were involved in the series whom he was fortunate enough to interview and get answers from. As I understand it, many of the participants wouldn't talk to him. I wonder how his book would have been influenced (if at all) by the Grand Jury testimony that has since come to light. In any event, he did a great job with what he had and I salute him for that. Kenny Cole

Posted By: barrysloateI was reading his obituary this morning and learned he was born in 1919, which seems only fitting. I also discovered he lived in Cedarhurst, NY, the same town in which I was raised. However, I never heard this before and I'm surprised nobody ever mentioned him as a favorite son.

When I was a little kid, I found some stuff in my grandfather's basement relating to the White Sox circa 1917-19. That led me to 8 Men Out, which took me to Glory of Their Times, and from there to collecting T-206's.

I still have the book and I honestly feel that is what got me into pre-war cards then and draws my interest now. That being said, you opened a can of worms as I really needed a reason to dig these all out and I enjoyed scaning them, I hope you enjoy them too <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14> Attells <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/attella.jpg"> <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/attel1a.jpg"> W514 Strip Cards <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/w514a.jpg"> T-206 I also have a few other backs on Burns, but I haven't spent the time making a full list of all the different backs for these three. <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/t206a.jpg"> Schalks I have had that autograph since the beginning, I think I paid $15 for it. <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/schalka.jpg"> Cracker Jacks The Ciccotte was in a CSA holder and crossed fine to SGC. One of the first cards I spent real money on $150 or so <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>. <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/crackerjacksa.jpg"> Boston Stores I would love to add to these as I am missing a few :-D <img src="http://www.thetoyheaven.com/images/items/baseballcards/bostonstorea.jpg"> Lastly Joe Jackson plus. The Ciccotte and Schalk I have had again since the beginning which is unusual for me as I was out of cards for 10+ years and just never sold these.
