What a great baseball name WIN-FIELD. He became my favorite player. The rookie card was issued the year I was born and his middle name was the same as my first name - Mark. Little did I know at the time that this guy was no ordinary ballplayer!

My Winfields - http://www.psacard.com/SetRegistry/alltimeset.aspx?s=20789

In college, the Colorado Rockies allowed me to drop off an item for signing when they hosted "Big Dave" in Denver for the Branch Rickey Award. He personalized a black-and-white 8X10 for me and it's still one of my favorite pieces of memorabilia. Pretty cool of the ballclub to help a poor student out who didn't have the $1000 to attend the corporate event.

Anyway, nice to see Mr. Winfield giving back.

------------------------------
MY COLLECTION: http://www.rustywilly.com/MYCOLLECTION.htm

He was a sharp old guy and everyone loved him. I have been fortunate in receiving several autographed baseballs from Buck himself. Hopefully baseball will eventually honor him with the Hall of fame. Lord knows with all he did for baseball he should be there. Too bad he wasn't honored before his death.

Kmac
