Posted By: Ken McMillan
interesting that the game was set up as a left handed batter especially when so many players are right handed. Wonder if Zimmer was a lefty?

Posted By: Bruce Dorskind

We were stunned by the condition of the "CNN Zimmer game"

We have owned a Zimmer game since 1978. We acquired it from
the estate of an early hobby pioneer. It was sold to us by a young
college student and fellow Wharton alumnus, Rob Lifson.

That same year Rob convinced us to pay a then record price
for another 1893 issued item- a near mint Just So Chewing Tobacco
card.

Today both those items still adorn our collection.

Thanks for always pushing us ahead, Rob.

The only disappointment for us was that three years after we purchased
the game, another legendary collector, and Board Member, outbid us in
a Richard Woldder's Auction for a Just So card of Mr. Zimmer.

Bruce Dorskind
America's Toughest Want List
bdorskind@dorskindgroup.com

Posted By: Anthony S.
Zimmer was a righty. I assume the game manufacturers figured most of the kids who would be using it were right-handed. If the batting mechanism represents a lefty, the kid using it (ie, sitting behind how plate) would press down on the button with his right hand to spring it.

Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
I hope this is the last thread that is started about this topic. I think we're up to three in the VBC forum, with at least two more on the memorabilia side. It's a great piece, but one all-purpose thread is enough!

Posted By: leon
I am with you...I even changed the title of the other one on this side to hopefully prevent this. I like folks starting new threads and topics so am always reluctant to say too much....but lets lock the other one and let this one go.....no worries.....If this was our worst problem we would be pooping in tall cotton (as my dad used to say...though he used a different word)...regards

PS...Folks- please try to make titles of threads a little more specific....a thread entitled "Wow" ...doesn't help much....
and Bruce- with all due respect your Just So is nice but at least a few technical grades below nrmt....still a great card but as a Wharton alumni I figured your group would prefer to espouse the truth....
