Posted By: Jason Silvey
I had a snipe set on Gavel Snipe for a card on ebay at $25 higher than the winning bid. The snipe wasn't executed because it said I was not allowed to bid on the sellers items. I don't think I've ever dealt with the seller before and wouldn't know of any reason why I would have been blocked from bidding. Just wondering if anyone has had an experience like this and if it may be a gavel snipe error. Thanks.

Jason

Posted By: Jim VB
Jason,

This same thing happened to me a while back. After many emails back and forth between me and Gavelsnipe, me and Ebay and finally, me and Paypal, we discovered the problem.

I will bet that the seller has checked off that the bidders must have a valid Paypal account, AND (this is the kicker) the Paypal account and the Ebay account must be "linked". I didn't even know what that meant when they told me, but it took 5 minutes to link the accounts.

In my case, the seller didn't know what this meant either. He was unaware that his preferences required it. He did not know that he was eliminating large numbers of bidders from his auctions.

Hope this helps.
