Posted By: MVSNYC
i just deleted my post, we posted at the same time, figured i'd let you (a red sox fan) have the post.

anyway, even as a die-hard Yankees fan, i had a lump in my throat watching this kid make history...

nights like this, performances like...unassisted triple plays, chipper jones & lance berkman batting around .400, etc...remind us about what's good in baseball...

Posted By: Tim
That's AWESOME!!!

It's not even the end of May and this season is shapping up to be a great one.

An unassisted triple play, a player hits for the cycle, a no-hitter, a player hitting over .400, another in early contention for the triple crown and Webb could win 25.

I know it's early but there are a lot of great things to follow.

Posted By: Kyle
I sat there, praying for John to get his final three outs. Actually get a little emotional, wanting to see the celebration that ensues.

I loved seeing the team come out and hug their teammate, congratulate him and "hoist" him up to the crowd.

My favorite part, the video clip of Veritek giving the ball to Lester.

"Unbelieveable."

Gotta love it.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
My son and I watched this game (The KC broadcast) through the first 4 innings and then went outside to toss the ball around...we came inside just in time to see that Lester still had a no hitter going through 8 so we sat down and watched it. Many high fives ensued.

What a great story...just two years removed from cancer.

GO SOX!!!

Posted By: Frank B

I made a bet that there would not be all of the following in the 2008 regular season:

1) No-hitter
2) Steal of Home
3) Triple Play
4) Inside-the-park-HR
5) Player hits for Cycle

It's mid May and I think I may have lost the
bet already. Steal of Home is tough to research
so no confirmation on that one yet.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Frank, there has already been a steal of home this year for certain. Either a Met or a Yankee did it in the last two weeks.

Posted By: Bernie
I was there last night ... Sox season tickets in the bleachers My wife is 6+ months pregnant and was getting cold in the 6th inning so we were just gonna stay until he gave up a hit. That was the first no-no I've seen in person.

Posted By: Anonymous
HOUSTON (AP) -- Geovany Soto didn't get the automatic home run he deserved. Cubs manager Lou Piniella thinks he probably likes it that way.

Soto was credited with an inside-the-park three-run homer in the fourth inning despite replays showing that it should have been an automatic home run in Chicago's 7-2 win

Posted By: Bob
Congrats to the Twins for turning down a package which included Jacobi Ellsbury and John Lester for Santana instead shrewdly choosing the Mets and a punch and judy centerfielder and two mediocre minor league pitchers instead. Added to the off-season pickups of Mike .190 Lamb, Adam .210 Everett and Brendan .235 Harris, all starters, the new GM is off to a great start! (Sarcasm added).
