PSA Submission--3 of 1250 rejected

Posted By: <b>JimCrandell</b><p>My recent submission to PSA of 1250 cards continued the pattern of all recent sizable submissions--about .2 to .4 of 1% altered(all trimmed).<br /><br />No rhyme or reason to what is trimmed--a 1925 Rothman's non-sport, 1968 KDKA Donn Clendenon and near HOFer Tommy Reynolds(1969 Topps).<br /><br />Unless one believes that PSA cannot accurately identify trimmed cards these seem like pretty low percentages.<br /><br />Roughly 200 of the 1250 were pre-war.<br /><br />Jim<br /><br />

Posted By: <b>Dave F</b><p>I for one Jim don't put as much stock in what PSA says...I would venture a guess that quite a few of the PSA slabbed cards would in fact be deemed trimmed by SGC.

Posted By: <b>JimCrandell</b><p>Obviously I am kidding about Tommie Reynolds although he was my starting left fielder for the A's in 1965 Strat-O-Matic.<br /><br />I would guess over the past five years I have submitted 10,000 cards with perhaps 20 or so altered.<br /><br />Dan--I know you love the graded cards so I knew you would be interested in this <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14><br /><br />Would SGC have rejected more--who knows? I doubt it. I am not going to play "musical grader" however to find out.<br /><br />And I did get a small number of prewar 10s(not SGC 10s--PSA 10s).<br /><br />

Giving them my 48 card 1933 Goudey Sport King set(all 8s) next week.<br /><br />These are all raw. Have a few more thousand raw I will submit--try to do about 2,500 per year.<br /><br />Jim

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>The 1933 Sport Kings set is my favorite from the 1930's. You have all 48 in PSA 8- that's really amazing.<br /> <br />And I played Strat-O-Matic every day in 1965, but I didn't order all the teams. I doubt I had the A's- they weren't very good.

You should have started Jose Tartabull--that way the '65 A's would have only lost, say, 98 games instead of 100. Heck, you may have been better off starting Debbie Reynolds than Tommie.

The only bright spot for the team was Campy Campaneris as leadoff hitter.<br /><br />I acually played up to the All-Star break for both Leagues. I loved the game--liked it so much I recently bought the 2004 version and have played 7 games(all teams).<br /><br />Jim

Hershberger is the right fielder with a 2 rating. Nelson Mathews is the other backup outfielder. A weak hitting poor pitching poor fielding team. Also in last place in my standings.<br /><br />Jim

You should be able to build a great collection in a short amount of time if you pursue it with the same passion that you did with your other collection. <br /><br />Thanks for posting those results. The Chicago White Sox sent Cam Carreon to the Cleveland Indians. The Cleveland Indians sent Tommy John, Tommie Agee, and Johnny Romano to the Chicago White Sox. The Kansas City Athletics sent Rocky Colavito to the Cleveland Indians. Some I submitted were dupes and was just trying for a 7.<br /><br />Low percentages on 71 Milk Dud Boxes and 68 KDKA Pirates but High on early 70s Bskbl.<br /><br />Jim
