Posted By: Eric
I had a sale on ebay that was for $1600 which was paid via paypal.

I delivered the card and received positive feedback.

Paypal on their own opened an investigation, when I called they believed that it was possible that someone else accessed the buyers account. Well I shipped to the confirmed address and confirmed with the buyer that they bought it and received it.... THEY SAID YES.

Well a week later I get notice from paypal that they reversed the funds so now the buyer has my card (psa 2 honus wagner) and my money.

They seemed to have stopped responding to my emails as well.

Anyone deal with this buyer? the EBAY ID is SARI but the communications after the auctions from from Brett Boyer - BBOYER.

By the way they only live about 20 minutes from me!

Thanks
Eric

Posted By: Dave F
You mean you shipped to the confirmed address of someone that won an ebay auction and paypal reversed the charges with the buyer saying he did in fact get the card???

Did you do signature confirmation?

Posted By: Eric
I shipped to the buyers CONFIRMED address via FEDEX.

The buyer did confirm that they received it via email to me.

However PAYPAL reversed the charges and now the buyer just stopped communicating to me.

They put a negative balance in my Paypal account... and then i had about 20 auctions that ended so they just kept reducing the outstanding balance until it was 0.

Posted By: Eric
That sucks....I'm sorry to hear that.

With Paypal, unless you get a signature receipt on items you sell over $250 (I believe that's the amount), they will not side with you. It's a total joke.

I had an instance where a guy purchased something from me for $800. He paid for it via paypal and I shipped it to him via USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation and Insurance...which needed to be signed for in order to pick up. 3 months later he issues a Chargeback against me saying he never received it, even though I had the emails to prove he did. I sent Paypal the emails, copies of the USPS documentation, but they still sided with him, because I did not do SIGNATURE RECEIPT. Then my balance was negative until I paid it off. They can't take money out of your Bank Account, and they can't charge your credit card. But if you have money coming in from auctions....that's fair game for them.

They say (Paypal) you should always have those extra funds available, because things like this are a part of "business".

I wish someone would bring a class action lawsuit against them, but what do I know.....that may not even be a possibility. They sure do screw a lot of people.

Edited to add: You basically have two options:

1) Contact your local law enforcement office,

2) file a complaint through the Internet Crimes Complaint Center (IC3)
-They will just forward the complaint on to your local law enforcement office.
Posted By: Steve Murray
I would threaten the buyer with "theft by deception" and tell him that unless he unravels this with Paypal or sends you a check that you're going to the local authorities and file a complaint.

Posted By: Eric
Yes... moving forward I think i'm basically done with PAYPAL.

This crook is still buying other cards everyday but not responding to my emails requesting payment again or return of my PSA Wagner.

Paypal is convenient to get cash asap from buyers... but not worth the trouble it can bring.

Posted By: Eric
you guys are too funny. i just want my $1600 or my PSA Wagner back.

Banging on someone's door that you don't know is asking for confrontation and probably not the best idea.

Posted By: Eric
I agree with Steve and Sean. Go to the cops. If you have all that info they could help you resolve it rather quickly.

BTW, I do look a lot bigger now (I've been hitting the weights pretty hard the past 5 months). That pic is a year old and the result of my 30th birthday and a lot of booze.
