Posted By: Tom
A friend told me about a Nashville-based auction house running an online auction of sports memorabilia. Lots of Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau autographs. Then at the very end, I found this. Without specific players or any indication about condition, I dropped out.

http://www.mclemoreauction.net/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?mclemore6/332

Collecion of Various Baseball Collectors Items
Includes 4 Baseball Hall of Fame postcards with 3 autographed, a large assortment of Papsi-Cola Collection trading cards, approximately 20 Red Man Chewing Tobacco Collector Pictures, approximately 15 Overland Candy Corporation Baseball collector candy labels, one book titled How to Think Your Way to Financial Independence, and one book titled Winning Baseball: How to Secrets for Every League.
Posted By: Dan Bretta
Oh Man!!! I'd would say yes you did miss out. I think I can see a DiMaggio and Gehrig R301's in that lot. Holy cow!

edited to add: not so sure on the Gehrig, but almost certain that's DiMaggio in there.

Posted By: Tom
I've never seen a DiMaggio and couldn't make out the name. Now, of course, it's plain as day. I've seen a Gehrig and didn't notice one in the lot. The auction was from the collection of a former dealer, so I was assuming (with all of the other junk in the auction) that any stars would be gone. Bad assumption I guess.

Posted By: AndyH
Is anyone else surprised at the minimal lot description used? Wouldn't an autioneer at least consult someone in the baseball card field and figure out what these are. And no mention of DiMaggio's name! I would be pissed as the seller, although the seller probably has no idea what they could have gotten for this lit elsewhere with a bit more work on their end.

Thanks,

AndyH

Posted By: Tom
I promise not to bring it up again, but I never find "finds". This will always be my big one that got away.

Tom
