Posted By: Matt
Jerry's post in the other thread inspired me to start a thread about favorite cards depicting a player in mid-air.

Here is his Oakes:

Posted By: Chris Counts
Here's a few flying players from my collection ... sorry about the post-war and football cards, but I couldn't resist ... Stone looks like he's taking off, while Lockman appears to be crash landing ... Reese resembles a helicopter, while Younger looks like Superman, especially with Old Glory waving in the background ...

Posted By: Matt
Leon - interesting card - the front looks exactly like an E120; I would bet that whomever the player is , he has a corresponding E120 with the same image.

While I was looking for it, I came across these:

I'm thinking the photographer had a "thing" for this pose.

Posted By: fkw
Leon, your game card pictures Heinie Groh. Its the same pose as my postcard pictured a few posts above.

Posted By: Matt
Good eye Frank! Interesting that the border around Leon's card, while it is found on some of the E120s, is different then the border found on Groh's E120.

Posted By: Mark L

Thanks for showing the E120 of Youngs. As you can see, it is the pose that keeps showing up on all his cards. What I like most about the E220 set is that it usually finds poses that you don't see on the other e card issues. In this case, Ross didn't change his pose for E220 but he did change his shirt.

Posted By: John S
I know its football...but its my all-time favorite. It looks as if he has been launched from a cannon.

Posted By: Seth B.
Hey Mark, does Ross have his glove on backwards in both those shots, too?

Posted By: Mark L
Darn right the glove is on backwards. Maybe his ability to play great baseball with his glove on backwards convinced quite a few other players that he was the best player ever.

Posted By: Matt
Mark - that's incredible - two different pictures taken at different times/places, yet the same pose and the same bizzare backwards glove. There must be a story there.
