Posted By: peter ullman
Since I'm not a set collector...this is not an issue for me...but...a ways back Tbob aquired this obak wolverton series 150 card to complete his set...and apparently he had a really hard time finding one. I have this card...but had no idea it was a tough card or that bob needed it otherwise I would have gladly traded it for a few e94's! I think Wolverton uses the same hair dye as eminem. What other cards out there are "uncommon commons" there must be bunches of zeenuts...1912 baker...cards most of us look at as "just commons" but to a set collector are elusive and coveted. let's avoid the obvious mainstream issues here.

It's owners taught it to speak words. Crows are ranked as the smartest bird, and have demonstrated the ability to make and use tools and even count.

Posted By: davidcycleback
There was a famous case of a crow that had a nest in a barn, and wouldn't go in into the barn if it knew people where in there. To test the crow's ability to count, a scientist had people go in the barn, then later leave. The crow could tell when all the people had left. The key is the people entered and left in both different numbers and combinations (6 enter and leave, 8 enter and leave, leave one at a time, leave in in pairs and threes). I don't remember what was the number, but the scientist figured out what number this particular crow could count to.

Posted By: Tim Newcomb
that I'll try to steer back to the original poster's question, which is a good one for set collectors.

1. This one's not my white whale anymore since I finally got one (HA!), but on behalf of some or most of the Obak set collectors:

1910 Obak Frank Miller
I would guess many of you know the story here. Yes, yes, everyone is entitled to collect in his own way, but still..... there's collecting and there's hoarding.
_________________________________________

2. Also a universal white whale: for the hundreds and hundreds of collectors who have ever tried to collect the W711-1 Cincinnati Reds set

W711-1 Wes Livengood. A short print to rival any in the hobby-- has anyone ever seen it?

_________________________________________

3. My own current white whale. Common player, easy to find in M101-4, not a known short print, but I can't find him!

M101-5 #59 Ray Fisher

Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
Jeffdrum,

Do you have a scan of that Bottomley card? Not being a card collector, I was not aware of its rarity. I actually believe I owned a signed example at one time, but perhaps there are multiple Bottomley images from this series, or perhaps mine was a later issue.

Posted By: Cat
Collins McCarthy or Boston Store

I guess, technically, there could be a Standard Biscuit or a Weil Baking back too, but I have not seen one of those for Heilmann....would love to.

This era of cards includes the rookies for HOFers Hornsby, Heilmann and Rice. I have three of the four backs for Rice (no Collins McCarthy)....shameless plug if anybody has one they will part with.
