This was purchased on ebay about a month ago from a reprint seller and NOT "got the card from a older gentleman that passed on last Fall."
http://cgi.ebay.com/1934-Goudey-61-Lou-Gehrig_W0QQitemZ270220690465QQihZ017QQcategoryZ868 48QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Posted By: Matt
OK Eric - I'll bite; case isn't frosted, cert is valid for a PSA 7 '34 Gehrig, seller has good feedback and the card looks good. Only thing I can think of is that the seller stole the scan, but how can you tell just by looking at the listing?

Posted By: Eric Brehm
Matt - ok, thanks. I guess I'm overly cautious because of all the talk of fake cards and fake slab flips these days. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to look for. The scan does look a little weird, with those vertical black and white stripes. But I agree, this one appears to be legitimate.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Eric, that card is good -- the seller just played with the colors to make the card look sharper, which of course only served to make it look bad.

Posted By: Eric Brehm
Thanks Jeff, I think you are right that the scan has been enhanced somehow.

Anyhow, I went ahead and bought the bastard. We'll see how the card looks in person.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Eric, it's such a crappy scan that I have no doubt the card will look 10x better in person. And that's really a great card, congrats.
