Posted By: jamie
I have been reading threads about cards being masterfully put into real slabs and they are really fake. etc..... Leon warned me about frosted edges..I went through my collection and found something alarming... I found 3 sgc cards.. all with what I would consider Identical bar codes.. one is the Demmit St Louis..... Looking back all of these 3 came from the same seller... cards came from a board member which is why I think that maybe I am making some dumb mistake... please someone tell me Im crazy and the cards are all real.. have a look for yourself...

Posted By: PC
The seller probably submitted all three cards to SGC. Check the serial numbers to the right of the flip, under the grade. Are they all the same, other than the last three numbers (after the dash)? If so, then I think the bar code matches up with the submitter's account code. But that's just a guess -- SGC can confirm.

Looks like a Polar Bear card trimmed to fit in an American Beauty cigarette box, but looks "Authentic" to me.

I'd say you're more paranoid than crazy.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for my blog, interviews, articles, card galleries and more!

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Collecting "The Monster" should be an unrushed, enjoyable adventure. There is a very good likelihood, you will never fully complete it.
As Wagner's have become unaffordable....and all the Joe Doyle's that there ever was have been found. So, take a deep breath, relax
and keep plugging away at it. And, by all means, have fun doing it.

This is well meaning advice from someone who has "completed" a 521-card set.....a 520-card set.....a 518-card all-PIEDMONT set.....
and a fully complete all-SOVEREIGN set.

TED Z

I just looked at some of my cards that I know that I sent to sgc for grading - it appears that the bar code is not keyed to the customer, but the order itself. In other words, some of the sgc slabbed cards I have had graded at different times, have different bar codes. However, it seems that any cards that were sent together, in the same shipment/order, all have the same bar code. My guess is that the bar code is used to track the cards and make sure they end up in the right package at the end of the process and it is not used for authenticating purposes.
