Posted By: <b>tim walsh</b><p>I am looking for info on my E97 Sullivan Boston American Briggs color baseball card.<br />I haven't found any examples of this card that have sold, although I am reading that this card is rare. Is it just the B/W version that is rare? It seems like the Chicago version is easier to find. Any one have any new info on this card and it's availability/rarity?<br />thanks,<br />Tim

I saw both an e97 color and b/w sell on ebay 1 or 2 years ago for about 2300 I think...and I thought this was an absolute bargain. As always...condition is king...and depending on the condition of your card...this will determine it's value. But it IS a rare and valuable card.

Posted By: <b>Jim VB</b><p>VCP shows two sales of this card in the last two years. An SGC 30 sold on Bay in June 2006 for $1680. An SGC 40 sold through Huggins and Scott for $2415 in March of 2007. <br /><br />Is yours raw or graded? Do you have a scan? As Peter said, condition will determine the value.

Posted By: <b>tim walsh</b><p>My card is raw, ungraded, and I have not scanned it yet. The card is probably around a very good "3" using Beckett. There are several light creases on front, but corners, centering, and edges are all exellent. I did finally find a sale listed by a website called "price realized" at $3,937.50 by Huggins and Scott, auctioneers, March 2007. The card was graded SGC 3, but looks nicer than my card. Posted By: <b>Jim VB</b><p>Tim, <br /><br />I not sure where "price realized" got their price of $3,937.50, but that's the same card, same auction and same auction house as the one VCP lists as $2415. <br /><br />Maybe Bobby Binder will weigh in with some thoughts, but I have not known VCP to be wrong in the past. <br /><br />Huggins & Scott does offer a link on their site to prices from old auctions, but I do not have the old catalog so I'm not sure what lot this was.

Posted By: <b>Peter Thomas</b><p>I had a SGC 40 that I crossed from a PSA 3. A year later I picked up a raw card at a show that was nicer than the SGC 40 card. I sent it in to SGC and it graded SGC 50. I then sold the SGC card to a board member. The card in the H&S auction is not the card that I sold although it is the same grade.

Posted By: <b>quan</b><p>hi timlanna, sounds familiar i think i bought a card from you on ebay recently <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14><br /><br />the sullivan is possibly the scarcest variation in the set, but with all tough scarce commons in sets they are probably overvalued and price-wise they can be all over the place...it's all about timing with these cards, and the e97s is a sleeper set compared to the big e93/e94/e98 with loaded hofers. depending on the grade and i'm assuming it's VG, up on auction with 2 set guys wanting the card it can do 3k+ easy...i could also see it doing $1800-$2400 like what the kelley/keeler hof'ers have been doing in comparable grades.
