Posted By: david Poses
i realize that i could look at the checklists of both sets and figure out what southern league players appear in both t206 and t210 sets, but i figured it couldn't hurt to ask if anybody knows before i do the research.

while we're on the subject, if anybody has any t210s of sl players in the t206 set and wants to post, i'd love to see them.

thanks.
Posted By: Anonymous
Great thread, I'd hate to see it die off to page 2, so let's get started:

22. Jack Bastian --no--
25. Harry Bay --no--
38. Bill Bernhard --no--
50. Ted Breitenstein *** Series 8 (also a Breitenstein in Series 1)
71. Scoops Carey --no--
98. Cad Coles --no--
107. Bill Cranston --no--
157. Roy Ellam --no--
172. Ed Foster --no--
175. Charlie Fritz *** Series 8
188. Ed Greminger *** Series 8
193. Tom Guiheen --no--
198. Bill Hart (Little Rock) --no--
199. Jimmy Hart (Montgomery) *** Series 8
202. J. Ross Helm --no--
206. Gordon Hickman *** Series 8
213. Bock Hooker *** Series 2
215. Ernie Howard (Savannah) *** Series 1
235. Dutch Jordan (Atlanta) *** Series 8
244. J.F. Kiernan --no--
247. Frank King --no--
261. James Lafitte --no--
277. Harry Lentz (Sentz) --no--
280. Perry Lipe *** Series 1 (2 cards) ???? (not Richmond) ???
291. George Manion *** Series 1
304. Pat McCauley --no--
327. Molly Miller (Dallas) --no--
332. Carlton Molesworth *** Series 8
337. Dom Mullaney --no-- (unless Series 1 Mullane is mis-spelled)
361. Al Orth --no-- (Smiling Al, the curveless wonder)
362. William Otey --no--
367. George Paige --no--
375. Hub Perdue *** Series 8 ????? (not Nashville) ?????
377. Arch Persons --no--
395. Ed Reagan --no--
398. Dutch Revelle *** Series 2
404. Ike Rockenfeld --no--
409. Ray Ryan --no--
423. Charles Seitz --no--
429. Shag Shaughnessy --no--
436. Carlos Smith (Shreveport) --no-- (unless it's Lynchburg or Portsmith)
441. Sid Smith (Atlanta) *** Series 8
450. Dolly Stark --no--
470. Tony Thebo --no--
473. Woodie Thornton --no--
481. Juan Violat (Viola) *** Series 1
491. James Westlake --no--
495. Foley White (Houston) --no--

Hardly all correct, but a start.

I count 33 with no T210 counterpart (2, C. Smith and Mullaney maybe), 13 with counterpart, and 2 questionable (Lipe, Perdue)

So basically only players from South Altantic League (series 1), Virginia League (series 2), or Southern Assoc. (series 8), are represented. If you're a Texas League fan, tough luck !!

T210-1
Howard
Manion
Viola(t)
(maybe Lipe, I think yes)

T210-2
Hooker
Revelle

T210-8
Breitenstein (someone please confirm versus series 1)
Fritz
Greminger
J. Hart
Hickman
Jordan
Molesworth
S. Smith
(maybe Perdue, I think yes)

Oh, and not to upset the green Cobb fans out there, IMO the Manion is the best looking portrait in the T206 set ......

Posted By: Bob
I wish I had the scan (it is the safe), but I picked up a T206er in the Red Sun set, Gordon Hickman. I also noticed a few other 206ers with the identical poses which are also Red Suns. Jordan, for one, I believe.

Posted By: david Poses
this is getting interesting.

another thing i've been noticing is how many t210s are listed as "the only one graded by (insert grading company here)" on ebay, etc. this makes me wonder how many (if any) complete sets exist, or how many of any given card exists. the bock hooker i got on ebay a few weeks ago was listed as "1 of 1, the only one graded by psa. none higher or lower." i can't possibly have the only t210 hooker, but that must mean that if i have the only one psa graded, nobody can have a full set on the psa registry. anyone have close to a set? how many do you have? do you know anyone with a near set?

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
David, I think your perception that there aren't lots and lots of T210s out there is correct, especially series 6, 7, & 8.

I have 64 of 66 series 6 cards. And a handful of others. I once had about a fourth of the set, but started swapping and selling them to collect other stuff, giving up on all but series 6. I think there are two or three guys that either have 640, or are VERY close.

I suspect that a greater percentage of T210 collectors don't get their cards graded, than T206 collectors. More new collectors collect T206s than T210s, and I'd think newer collectors are more likely to collect slabbed cards.

So I think a significant aspect of there being few graded T210s is that there nowhere near as many T210s have survived as T206s. (I think some T210s were discarded after the player retired, especially if he never made it to the major leagues.) And a lesser aspect would be that currently, a greater portion of T210 collectors aren't caught up in the desire to have the cards graded. I don't think your Hooker is the only one out there. But there aren't bunches and bunches of them, either.

Posted By: Bill Stone
I agree completely with Frank's analysis. I also think there are several small collections created for the individual towns. When I first got interested in the T210 Series it was because my hometown of Frankfort, KY was one of the teams and I wanted to see if I could get all the players for that team( yes Frank I finally got the Angermeier fielding in poor condition but it completed my Frankfort team--so the next one is yours!!) --I could have cared less about the grade it might have assigned to it I just wanted the image and the history behind the card. I have had family members contact me from time to time asking about relatives that played for the hometown years ago. We see this a lot in the forum as people discover a relative was a ballplayer. So I think this series may have a few more ungraded cards still to be found but they may never show up in a registry.

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Alright, Bill... I recognize you as the Grand Poohbah of Old Mill Blue Grass League collecting. How and where did you obtain Angermeier fielding?? Did you leave fingerprints? Has the body been found? Sounds' like an "Ocean's 14" deal to me... I just gotta know.
