Posted By: Jamie B
Hi everyone.. I just bought a lot of over 150 different t206's... it cost me a decent amount and I was alittle worried about a few of my findings with the cards... was hoping someone could help me out... I had about 50 of the cards already so I created some duplicates when i bought this lot.. My concern only comes from my comparison to my doubles... one thing I have noticed is that the new cards all seem to have slightly thicker sides.. the color is slightly darker.. but there are also some facial differences.. Please note the example I have listed with the 2 chase cards.. the face in one is very detailed.. while in the other looks blurry.. extreme differences are in the mouths.. just wondering if these are normal variances for the set or if I have bought old reprints!!... please help.. thanks
Jamie

My original chase

Chase just aquired in lot

couple other examples of concerns.. Jones color looks off.. most noticible on forehead and hair..
my original

Just aquired

Side by Side

Moeller.. the right eye in my original which is graded by sgc has white under his pupil... in new the one aquired in this lot the pupil goes all the way down to the eyelid.
Graded

New

Are these all normal.. someone let me know if I just bought reprints or normal differences..
Thanks
Jamie

Posted By: Eric
Of the one's you question, could you please post a full scan or pic of the front of the card, as well as the back?

Seeing a full picture could help with determining whether the card is a reprint or not by seeing the name and team across the bottom. Also, a pic of the back could help in much the same way (for example a back on a card that doesn't exist, color of the ink, is there a factory designation, etc.).

Posted By: Matt
From what you posted, the bluriness could be caused by bad registration, but I'd also like to see a full card scan.

Posted By: davidcycleback
There are normal variations due to printing variations. In particular, the colors didn't always align perfectly from card to card. This can cause the different eyeball placements, overlapping colors and blurriness. Also, there can be color variations due to the amount of an ink is applied. You see this stuff on modern cards, like 1970s Topps, but it was especially common on T206 and other period color cards. So a bit of image variation from card to card shouldn't be a worry in and of itself, and in fact should be expected if you're looking at enough cards.
