Posted By: Steve Murray
No knock, but for vintage SGC is a better alternative.

Posted By: Addie_Joss
I definitely agree that if I could choose I'd pick SGC over Beckett but I don't think Beckett is a joke like say CSA or PRO. The only reason my vintage cards are graded by Beckett is that they come to the White Plains shows usually every time I'm there. I just can't bare to send my cards through the mail or else I'd always choose SGC.

Posted By: quan
don't know why i'm inviting more competition but beckett is a fine grader if you know what to look for. i've had a few and am/was happy with all of them...e101 cobb 3, e94 crawford 3, e98 walsh 4, t206 joss 4.5...all prewar vintage.

Posted By: Pete Z.
I’m getting this second hand from my friend who submitted it, but he said they believed there was glue that was removed on the back of the card (unfair I know, fat chance seeing that in a scan). I thought it was the touch up job in the lower right corner on the front, but he said they didn’t mention that (and that they usually mention all alterations, not just one that would give it the altered designation). So it’s now on its way to SGC to either get into a number or AUTH slab. I’ll report back on the outcome.
