Posted By: leon
Hey Folks,
First of all there is precedence for this type of post on the main forum. I have always said if someone is selling off their collection, or there is a very significant situation, then the main board is ok. I am NOT selling anything in particular on this page but am posting about how I am going to do it. After way too much thought on how to sell the rest of my 19th Century collection (I have sold the FBH Kelly, H812 Welch, and N175 McCarthy)I think I am going to offer the rest, for the most part, piece by piece on the Buy/Sell/Trade pages of Net54. One thing I don't care for, though it's absolutely ok to do, is to post a card there and say only "best offer". To me that doesn't really give an idea of what to shoot for so I rarely participate in those sales. I am going to ask a little bit of a high retail price from where I think they would sell for in auction and then take a best acceptable offer after that. That way if someone wants to buy a card there is a price next to it....If they want to haggle then we can do that too. I am not sure how I can be more fair. To all interested you might look at our BST page in the coming weeks. I am going to start with the N167 of Ewing today......Thanks again for all of the warm and kind emails regarding selling my 19th century collection. It's very hard to do but is the right thing for my family. For the record NONE of my 20th century stuff is for sale. As always you can look at my personal site to see what I will be selling.....it will be the 19th Century part of my personal collection. I am going to keep one card and it will be either the Peck and Snyder or the K-bats Phili card...those will probably be the last 2 to be sold as I am not sure yet which one I am going to keep.....best regards

ps...the other reason I am posting here is I want to make sure everyone that has inquired has a chance at the cards...

I'm sure there will be some very happy people in the near future. You hold some great cards.

Thanks,

Andy

Posted By: leon
Sorry Fred....no FBH Kelly in the contests....

Brian,
I spoke with Jay Miller today ...You are absolutely correct .....

No 20th century cards are being sold. The 19th Century cards will not be for sale until listed on the BST page. At that time it will be sort of a mini auction format. I will be posting the current high offer each time one is given. Each card will have a BIN price too....I am going to offer Net 120 terms to folks I know, or with hobby references, with a 20% non-refundable down payment (due in 14 days) too...no interest of course....EVERYONE will have a chance to say "no, I am out"....no sniping and everyone gets to say "no" to a last offer....Each mini auction will run 2-3 days then we will go to the next card.....I will give specific rules in each thread....This should be some fun. I will not play games and I want to sell the cards. This is not a lesson in futility....I will reserve the right to modify the rules but I doubt I will need to..As for banning myself...I am taking that under advisement ......best regards
Posted By: leon
The N167 sale on the BST did very well. I am happy how it ended but wish all of the bidders could add it to their collection. I do think it was very fairly run....

With the rest of the 19th Century cards I am contemplating my venue to sell them. It will probably be a regular auction venue with a few twists....Only the future will tell us how it goes.....Thanks again for all of the emails and inquiries. None of the 20th century stuff will be for sale as I am still a passionate collector......best regards
