What N, E, T, H, W and -UNC,issues fall into this category? And what issues would fall into the next category, buy it when you see it because you probably wont have another chance.

Posted By: <b>David Smith</b><p>I am biased (since I own 16 different) but I think the 1928 Star Player Candy cards would fall into the "buy them when you can find them category". I also think the Curtis Ireland Candy cards and the Kalamazoo Bats cards with the redemption offer would also fall into this category because both were meant to be turned in for prizes. Finally, the large size Gypsy Queens would probably also fall into this category.<br /><br />I know if I had the money, these are some of the cards I would be trying to buy.<br /><br />Just my two cents.<br /><br />David

As a collector of "rarity" I do think it would be impossible to go after certain sets. Unless a full, or almost full, set turns up then there are many that would be either impossible to complete or nearly impossible. A few that come to mind.....<br /><br />D303 Mothers Bread (I don't think there is a full set known)<br />D380- Clements (I doubt there is a full set)<br />D381- Fleischmans/Fergusons (maybe Larry Frisch (rip) had a set=?)<br />D382- Tarzan Bread (I doubt a full set is known)<br /><br />E107 (none complete but a few within 10-15 or so)<br />E123- Curtis Ireland (don't know of any complete but there could be 1-2)<br />E136/E137 (in total this would be close to impossible)<br />E221 (I think Mark M is complete but this would be tough to complete, I have 2 of 5:))<br />E222 (see E221)<br />E223 (one board member has most but I doubt anyone else has more than 10-20)<br />E224 ( not impossible but I only know 1 collector complete on type 1 and missing 1 on type 2)<br />E300 (not sure but I doubt there are too many full sets)<br /><br />M117- (I doubt a full set is known)<br /><br />N175 small (I doubt any are complete but there are probably a few within 10-15)<br />N175 large (I know of one collector missing 1 to be complete...I think "9" is complete..but could be off by 1-2)<br />N321- SF Hess minor league- color (doubt any are complete...though there could be 1-2)<br />N333- Newsboy League (I doubt any are complete)<br />N338-1 SF Hess minor league- sepia (Doubt any are complete)<br />N338-2 SF Hess major league (probably the most doable fo SF Hess but not too many complete, if any)<br />N403 Yum Yum (doubt any complete but know of one collector that is over half way)<br />N690 Four Base Hits or Kalamazoo Bats (none complete that I am aware of)<br /><br /><br />T208- (I think there is probably 1-2 complete or close to it)<br />T231- (who knows....I am half way there to known ones, 1 of 2)<br /><br /><br />Most of the ones above are so rare that they are mostly in the "why bother" column.....As a type collector, and as such only need a single card from each series, this is great stuff....<br />regards and happy holidays....<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />

One board member has five of the seven, missing only 1870 Philadelphia (which is available in a CdV) and the 1868 Lowells, of which I have seen a photocopy but never saw one in person.<br /><br />But I think Leon covered all the type cards.

Posted By: <b>leon</b><p>Tim- I didn't include one of a kinds, for the most part. The AWA is an AWH (E222) with a variation on the back. I also didn't include "H's" and there are many of those. Lastly, I didn't include uncatalogued card sets, as there are almost too many to list....Orange Borders, Allstar Baseball, Baseball Bats, J=K, Bigeater and many, many others. My list included most of the Pre-1950, ACC catalogued sets minus the H's and R's.....best regards

The way I made my original list in this thread was to look down my website and go from there. I missed a few I don't have <img src="/images/sad.gif" height=14 width=14>.....which would probably make them tough as I do a fair amount of collecting/searching.....
