Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Occasionally, these T206 FAKES are listed on ebay; and, in many instances veteran sellers are selling
them as "authentic". In some cases, the OLD MILL back is Red; and, in others it is Blue....such as the
Lundgren I have depicted here.

What is really interesting with most of these, is that they usually look "a-ged" and quite worn.....as if
this will camouflage their phoniness. I doubt if any Net54er's would be duped in to thinking these are
genuine T206's.....but, I'm sure that there are others that would be.... especially, if the starting bids
are low enough to entice.

Here are the links to two current ebay examples....a Matty (white cap) and a Green Cobb.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-11-T206-T-206-MATHEWSON-CHRISTY-NO-CREASES_W0QQitemZ270193228318

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-11-T206-Ty-Cobb-Card-Portrait-w-Green-Back_W0QQitemZ130181820166

TED Z

Posted By: Jeff Shepherd
I wrote him in regards to the Mathewson, saying he should probably state that it's a reproduction somewhere in the title or description. His reply:

"THIS IS AN ORIGINAL"

I'm sorry, it's entertaining writing these people.

Posted By: Jeff Shepherd
This brings up a good point. If the seller refuses to listen to you, should the buyers of bogus auctions be notified by outside sources that they may have purchased something falsely represented? I'm not about to shake a stick at a bees nest, but I'd want to know.

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Jeff, from occasionally, when I'm feeling ornery, I have emailed the top two or three bidders to advise them that they're bidding on a reprint. And I've done that to a winner, too. About half the time there is no response, the other half there is a reply of gratitude.

The shame of it is that someone who might have become a good, avid collector gets burned by this crap, then they give up on the hobby.

Thanks for posting it, Ted. Maybe a few folks who might otherwise bid on stuff could read about it hear and be forewarned.
