Posted By: Marc Del Percio
This one is pretty apparent to anybody who looks closely but as it is being advertised as authentic, thought I'd point it out:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1911-Cobb-T-205-Gold-Border_W0QQitemZ110193698345QQihZ001QQcategoryZ317 18QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem</a" target="_new" rel="nofollow"><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1911-Cobb-T-205-Gold-Border_W0QQitemZ110193698345QQihZ001QQcategoryZ317 18QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem</a&gt" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://cgi.ebay.com/1911-Cobb-T-205-Gold-Border_W0QQitemZ110193698345QQihZ001QQcategoryZ317 18QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem</a>

The picture of the front clearly shows a reprint. The back photo appears to be an authentic card in a PSA holder (and about 6 grades lower). Obviously the front and back photos do not match so this seems to be a blatant case of fraud.

Posted By: Matt
Are you sure that's not the best looking T205 in the history of the world? The seller assures me it is so, with not even the tiniest bit of flaking...

Posted By: David Smith
I love the straight edges and square corners on the front and then the rounded corners on the back. They also have a Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams for sale.

The only recent feedback is for the purchase of a video game so I think this seller is a young person trying to scam people for Christmas money.

David

Posted By: Marc Del Percio
Yeah, it's great how the rounded corners readily visible on the back scan magically become razor sharp when the card is flipped over. This will confound even the most experienced graders. A new PSA qualifier perhaps? Did the seller think that nobody would...ya know...look at the pictures?

Posted By: Mark Steinberg
I notified the seller of the font/back discrepancy, and he actually responded....

He said he had 2 different cards, and mistakenly photographed the wrong back. He "fixed" this in his current auction (if you want to call it that) and has posted a new picture of the back.

Posted By: David Smith
Oh, that just makes it soooo much better. He KNOWS about graded cards and grading companies yet the ONLY card he has graded is a paper cut-out and it is graded by BVSA or some such faux grading company.

David

Posted By: Marc
I see he also "revised" the part of the description where he guarantees authenticity. And he lowered the price by $200. He still states that it is a 1911 card and nowhere mentions anything about it being a reprint. I have reported this item to eBay but it's still active. Oh well...hope nobody is fooled by this one.

Posted By: Mark
This guy is pathetic... It is the most obvious fake of all-time, and I don't think anyone could be fooled by this one (at least not anyone with enough $$ to actually pay for it!)

Posted By: Marc Del Percio
Looks like it has been relisted...this time without any pesky photos to give away the fact that it is an obvious reprint. Probably too late to do anything about it now unless stew_p or ibuyfakecards wants to add a nice Cobb to the collection Not sure how anybody would legitimately bid on this but the high bidder seems to be for real as he/she has perfect feedback and has never bid on an item by this seller before.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1911-T-205-Cobb-card-Gold-border_W0QQitemZ110195437917QQihZ001QQcategoryZ868 41QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Posted By: Matt
If you make an offer for more then the seller is asking and he accepts - does the seller get stuck with higher fees?
