Posted By: Chris Nerat
Guys,
I am doing a story for SCD on memorabilia and card restoration and need your help... I covered restoration of jerseys, bats, nodders, autographs and cards... Included in the story I pictured before and after pics of restored items, but haven't used any card images yet.
You guys are very knowledgeable and I know some of you can help me.
Do any of you have a before and after pic of a card that was restored (or doctored)?
Trimmed, flatted crease or corner, bleached, power erased, etc.
The key here is to be able to show the details of the restoration in our black and white pages.

Any help would be appreciate...
Thanks much!

I did it myself. It is now on ebay with a disclaimer that it had been removed from an album. I don't know if it improved the grade, but it sure is a nice "Good". Smiley face if I knew how.

Posted By: Chris Nerat
One more question, Martin... Did PSA give it a number grade with no qualifiers or just the "authentic" designation...
thanks.
chris

Posted By: Matt
I don't know that I would call that "restored." Restored to me is putting back something that wasn't there - i.e. rebuilding a corner or recoloring a surface. Removing something extra on the card is different.

Posted By: Martin Neal
Chris, It was graded a two, not the authentic label. Without the paper loss and that tape stain it would have been a solid vg with no creases. Sure, you are more than welcome to use these images.

Posted By: Chris Nerat
Good point... I will take that into consideration, because that does make more sense.

He has thousands of cards and if 15% are altered as has been said all day here in another thread he may very well have a boatload for you to look at.

{...............just kidding Jimmy.

In all seriousness you may want to read that thread too.

Steve
